KEVIN BRUNEMONTGOMERYMontgomery head coach Zoran Milich already knows he’ll have a tough timereplacing Kevin Brune.Not just because he was <strong>the</strong> team’s captain or its top defensive player <strong>the</strong> last twoyears, but also because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> role he took in bringing <strong>the</strong> Cougars toge<strong>the</strong>r.He was a true leader on <strong>the</strong> gridiron as well as on <strong>the</strong> baseball diamond in <strong>the</strong> spring,”said Milich, referring to Brune’s role as first baseman for <strong>the</strong> defending SomersetCounty Tournament champions. “As a captain, Kevin has done anything our coachesor any o<strong>the</strong>r members <strong>of</strong> our faculty have asked him to do. He is an indispensablepart <strong>of</strong> our defense. He goes above and beyond <strong>the</strong> call <strong>of</strong> duty, <strong>of</strong>ten doing thingslike giving rides to our younger players when <strong>the</strong>ir parents could not.”An honor roll student, Brune was also a featured speaker with <strong>the</strong> school’s Freshmanorientation program. He is a volunteer for <strong>the</strong> Special Olympics and <strong>the</strong> ChallengerLittle League. He has given his time to <strong>the</strong> Walk for Autism, <strong>the</strong> Relay for Life Walk, and also was <strong>the</strong> organizer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Montgomery High fitness club.Kevin has worked as a teacher’s assistant for <strong>the</strong> district’s summer enrichment program and is a youth counselor andbasketball referee for <strong>the</strong> Princeton YMCA.“Kevin is well liked by his teammates, peers, coaches, and teachers,” Milich said. “He is a great young man on <strong>the</strong> athleticfield as well as <strong>the</strong> classroom because he never lets o<strong>the</strong>r people dictate his limitations.”BRYAN CARGILLNORTHERN BURLINGTONA wide receiver, defensive back, and special teams ace, Bryan Cargill is <strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong>player that coaches love.“Bryan was willing to sacrifice self glory for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> team,” head coachJonathan Reising said. “He was willing to sacrifice self-glory for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>team. He was much happier blocking than running a route and having a pass thrownto him. He was always in <strong>the</strong> mix, always willing to help <strong>the</strong> younger players withnuances <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> game <strong>of</strong> football and helping <strong>the</strong>m improve <strong>the</strong>ir abilities as athletes.”A true student <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> game, Cargill enjoyed putting his teammates in a position to getbetter. Cargill has certainly made his mark at Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Burlington over <strong>the</strong> last fouryears. A member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Honor Society executive board, Bryan is a fouryearPresidential Fitness award winner. He was accepted into <strong>the</strong> Governor’s School<strong>of</strong> Engineering and Technology, an intensive summer program for high achievers.Bryan is a youth group leader at Holy Cross Lu<strong>the</strong>ran Church. He is also a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Renaissance Club, Interact Club,and jazz band. Cargill is also active in <strong>the</strong> science club and on <strong>the</strong> math team at Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Burlington. He is a multiple timeStudent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Month winner.“Throughout his high school career,” counselor Carol Ferriolo said, “Bryan has demonstrated perseverance, commitment,and compassion.
