The criminal justice major started every gamefor <strong>the</strong> Lions over <strong>the</strong> last two seasons, and played in 23 games during his career.His leadership on <strong>the</strong> field was a tremendous factor in turning <strong>the</strong> Lions seasonaround in 2010. After a 1-4 start, TCNJ dusted itself <strong>of</strong>f to win four <strong>of</strong> its last fivegames including three on <strong>the</strong> road. The Lions had a record <strong>of</strong> 5-4 in <strong>the</strong> New JerseyAthletic Conference and defeated Western Connecticut State University 22-16 togive head coach Eric Hamilton his 200th career coaching victory.During <strong>the</strong> 2009 season, Mason and his line-mates gave <strong>the</strong> quarterback time andrunning backs daylight as TCNJ’s <strong>of</strong>fense set several school records. They set <strong>the</strong>standard for most completed passes in a season (163), most total yards <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fensein a game (708), most points scored in a season (309), and most points scored in agame (67).Mason graduated in December with a degree in criminal justice. A member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>TCNJ Dean’s List and a TCNJ Scholar Athlete, he posted a 3.8 GPA this past falland owns an overall cumulative average <strong>of</strong> 3.37. The 6’ 4” 245-pound lineman is also a graduate <strong>of</strong> TCNJ’s U.S. ArmyROTC program. Over this past summer, Mason took part in <strong>the</strong> Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC)which is <strong>the</strong> centerpiece <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> U.S. Army’s ROTC program. The course totals 29 consecutive days <strong>of</strong> both trainingand testing in common soldier skills like physical fitness, land navigation, rifle marksmanship, grenades, first aid, radioprocedures, field craft, and tactics. It is a mentally and physically grueling experience that typically serves as <strong>the</strong> final leg <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> ROTC program before being commissioned.Mason finished in <strong>the</strong> top 18 percent <strong>of</strong> his class posting outstanding marks on his blue card (ROTC’s version <strong>of</strong> a reportcard). He was commissioned into <strong>the</strong> Military Police Corps and his first position was as a gold bar recruiter at PrincetonUniversity ROTC. He is currently serving in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for 18 weeks for Military Police Basic OfficerLeader Course (MPBOPLC).
