Position:Accountable to:Employment Status:Funding:Education and Training OfficerSupport Services Manager37.5 hours per weekHome and Community Care (HACC)Position DescriptionThis positions primary aims are to facilitate, update and evaluate ongoingmetropolitan and regional workshops for carers and the sector. Morespecifically: Carer Education programmes for family carers based on TrainingNeeds assessment and feedback, including training resourcesSector development education programmes, based on Training NeedsAssessments and requests, including training resources.A component of the programme is to advocate for the ongoing funding andcontinued development of carer & service provider training and education.Duties and responsibilitiesCollate existing training materials for carers, identifying what is relevantand accurate and up to date.Identify gaps and develop training material where needed.Identify relevant mediums (in terms of content and audience) forpresentation of material and package accordingly.Facilitate sessions as required in metro and regional WA.Evaluate modules within team and externally where available.Work with other Carers WA staff to identify promotional, marketing anddevelopment strategies.Promote the aims and projects of Carers WA.Conduct orientation of new staff to organisation and maintain and amendorientation programme in line with organisational policy and proceduresDevelop and organise internal staff development opportunities based ontraining needs analysisLiaise with department managers and staff regarding sourcing of externaltraining opportunitiesParticipate in staff and other meetings.Maintain appropriate records and statistics; comply with timesheet, leaveand financial requirements.


Ensure all data entry is up-to-date, contribute to monthly reports andmaintain both electronic and hard copies where necessary.Work on other projects and administrative duties as requested by theProgram Manager.Essential Skills Experience in delivering training packages using a variety of technologymediums, particularly within the community sector. Experience in group facilitation, presentations and adult learningprinciples High level computer and internet skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills. Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. Able to use own initiative to forward the best outcomes of theprogramme.Desirable Skills Understanding of and commitment to carers’ issues and needs. Understanding of and empathy of ageing and disability issues. Highly developed networks, particularly in the HACC and care sector. Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training qualifications. Experience in developing E-Learning packages.Personal Attributes Flexible approach to the work environment. High level energy, working towards practical outcomes. Hands on approach and a can do attitude. Exceptional work ethic.Professional Development Attend relevant group seminars and training sessions. Attend relevant networking opportunities. Represent Carers WA on Reference Groups and committees as required.
