+AAyour local Crane dealer for details. Five installation kits(P/Ns 700-2226, 700-2231, 700-2292, 700-2300, and700-2309) are available to fit most applications.INSTALLATION AND HOOKUP1. Install the optical trigger in the distributor. Follow thedistributor alignment and optical trigger installation procedureon pages 1-10 of the XR700 instructions suppliedwith the installation kit. Be sure to install a newrotor and cap. Save the old cap for the phasing procedurein step 3.2. Electrical hookup. Refer to Figures 1-4 for appropriatehookup for your system. Note that the optical triggerhas three wires:Red: Switched +12V. Connect to the thin red wire fromthe ignition module.Figure 2.Black: Ground. Connect to chassis ground near thelocation where the ignition module is grounded.White: Points trigger signal. Connect to the whitepoints/module trigger input of the ignition module.3. Follow the optical trigger adjustment procedure andcompletion instructions given on pages 13-14 of theXR700 instructions. To assure proper operation with ahigh performance ignition system, you must use thedistributor phasing procedure shown in Figure 26 onpage 14.WARNING: Do not connect the white wirefrom the Optical Trigger Conversion to anycoil terminal.The unit can not drive a coil.
