On 72-97 engines,the heads must be machined to use 99159-16 screw-instuds and pushrod guideplates.CRANECAMS.COMNOTE: Many 1972 and later Ford-Mercury V-8 engines areoriginally equipped with a retarded crankshaft sprocket.This may cause idling and performance problems wheninstalling aftermarket camshafts. We recommend usingour 35975-1 timing chain and gear assembly, a pre-1972crankshaft sprocket, or by degreeing in your camshaft. Thenon-retarded sprocket will have the alignment dot andkeyway slot directly in line with each other.NOTE: These camshafts also fit the 1969-70 Ford 429 Boss HemiV-8 engines.
