Before eating.PurposeThe opportunities and experiences children have in theearly years play an important role in how they grow anddevelop.Our program offers: Staff that specializes in Early Childhood Education Materials and daily routines that match the age anddevelopment of each child.We strive to provide a stimulating experience whichpromotes each child’s social/emotional, physical andcognitive development.PhilosophyWe use developmentally appropriate practices to provide asafe, supportive and nurturing environment. The programalso supports the relationship between children, theirfamilies and the preschool staff. Learning activities arepresented through “hands-on” play. These activitiesengage the children so they can explore, experiment andimitate to further their thinking and problem solving skill.CurriculumTeachers design an environment and plan a curriculumthat gently guides children from their current level ofdevelopment to the next. The daily schedule reflects abalance of teacher directed and child initiated activities.Our curriculum is thematic play based; with focuses onliteracy, mathematics, science, art, music and movement.Our sequential curriculum is designed to prepare eachchild for academics in kindergarten and elementary school.2. Children will wash hands:a. After toiletingb. Before eating or cooking activities.H. HANDLING BODILY FLUIDS1. Wearing gloves staff will see to the needs of thechild:a. Removing child from others to a private areab. Cleaning up and changing clothes if necessary2. Call office to have custodian come and properlydisinfect area and remove any contaminatedwaste.3. Staff will follow hand washing procedures.I. FOOD SANITATION1. Leftover foods will be covered, dated and stored inthe refrigerator according to health departmentrecommendation.2. Eating and cooking activity surfaces will be cleanedbefore and after each use by either the classroomaide or Ginny Francis.J. NUTRITION1. Snacks are provided on a monthly donation basisby parents. Each container will be labeled withchild’s name and used for shared snacks on thedays that child attends.2. Food allergies or other medical conditions will benoted and parents will be notified accordingly to thekinds of snacks permitted in class.421
