eGift Social SM SolutionThe challengeThanks to social networking sites, texting and the abundance of mobile devices, people are now in constant communication with their friends — from those theysee daily, to others they have not seen for a long time, to some they have nevereven met face-to-face. It stands to reason that the way people give and receivegifts must evolve to keep up with this changing style of maintaining relationships. It is difficult to show a small gesture of gratitude or friendship, like buying a cupof coffee for someone, when your relationship is largely virtual or separated bymiles. This situation, however, presents an opportunity for merchants to packagetheir gift program in a way that is relevant for this emerging market. The solutioneGift Social SM Solution is an innovative, new mobile commerce product thatprovides consumers the ability to send an “item-level gift” (e.g., cup of coffee, sandwich, movie ticket) quickly and easily to a friend. These items move giftgiving from “special occasions” to “everyday occurrences,”helping yourconsumers interact with and show appreciation for friends by giving affordableyet meaningful gifts. And since it’s a fun and inexpensive way to keep in contactwith friends and show gratitude, your customers can send more gifts morefrequently to more people. How it worksConsumers access the eGift Social application through the FacebookMarketplace home page. Additionally, you can also link directly to yourmarketplace storefront through your Facebook merchant fan page. Consumerscan access the site using either a computer or Web-enabled mobile device.1. Consumer decides to send a gift from your store to his or her friend using theeGift Social application.2. Sender selects one or multiple friends to whom he or she would like to sendgifts, either adding them from Facebook or entering their email addresses(which will also designate how the friends receive the gift notification).3. Sender then selects which of your product(s) he or she would like the friend(s)to receive, creates a personal message, and proceeds through the securecheckout process, where sender is asked to register. (All major credit cardsare accepted.)4. The recipient receives a Facebook message, email, or both, which include thegift alert, account number and redemption instructions.5. The recipient goes to one of your participating locations and redeems the giftvalue for an item of his or her choice, by using the account number from theFacebook or email notification. The entire program operates on our gift card platform, which meansimplementation is fast, and ongoing operations are easy. Your reporting, settlement, customer service and daily management leverage the samesystems that are used today for your traditional gift card program.
