LETTER FROMTHE FOUNDEROn October 21, 2006 MoLAA will hold its fourth auction exclusively devoted to the sale of Latin AmericanContemporary Fine Art.Over the last ten years I have spent a tremendous amount of time, effort and money traveling throughout allof the countries of Latin America, discovering artists who are well known in their own countries but little knownin the United States. Many of these artists have been purchased and by now represented in the over 1000works– sculptures and paintings in the Museum of Latin American Art.We now have the opportunity to bring these artists’ works here to Long Beach rather than spending weeksand months traveling around Latin America. We have contacted the artists that have contributed and soldworks to the museum over the last ten years and a majority of them are represented in this year’s auction. Inorder to make this year’s auction more successful we have offered prizes of $100,000 for mid-career artistsknown in their own countries for quality work. In addition, we have a large group of emerging artists that areoffering good quality pieces at excellent prices. A third category is established artists well known to everybodythat collects Latin American art and then pieces offered by collectors who wish to sell a part of their collection.This is your opportunity to get these little known pieces at excellent prices since the museum’s costs are muchlower and our staff have been working on this for over a year.
