Volendam<br />
This <strong>com</strong>ing spring immerse yourself in the cultural and horticultural<br />
splendours of the Netherlands. Join the first class <strong>MS</strong> <strong>Johann</strong> <strong>Str<strong>au</strong>ss</strong> for an<br />
eight day journey which will afford us the opportunity to enjoy the Dutch<br />
countryside in some depth.<br />
The programme will include spending a day surrounded by the flowers of<br />
the Keukenhof, visiting the be<strong>au</strong>tifully restored Palace and Gardens of Het<br />
Loo, exploring the shores of the Zuider Zee from Volendam to Enkhuizen,<br />
the marvellous windmills of Kinderdijk and of course the art treasures of<br />
Amsterdam.<br />
Amsterdam<br />
April is the perfect time for such a journey, when the<br />
landscape is touched by the arrival of spring. The<br />
itinerary we have designed is, we believe, a perfect mix<br />
of horticulture, history, art and Dutch lifestyle and<br />
makes for a colourful and endlessly interesting week.<br />
We will also enjoy the great <strong>com</strong>fort of the<br />
<strong>MS</strong> <strong>Johann</strong> <strong>Str<strong>au</strong>ss</strong> as we criss-cross the Netherlands<br />
along the intricate network of rivers and waterways<br />
that make Holland such a unique place.<br />
THE ITINERARY<br />
Day 1 — London/Manchester/Birmingham/Edinburgh to Amsterdam. Fly by<br />
scheduled flight. Transfer to the <strong>MS</strong> <strong>Johann</strong> <strong>Str<strong>au</strong>ss</strong> and embark. This evening,<br />
enjoy wel<strong>com</strong>e drinks and dinner on board. Moor overnight in Amsterdam.<br />
Day 2 — Amsterdam. Explore the city of the ‘Golden Age’ on an excursion<br />
which will include the in<strong>com</strong>parable Rijksmuseum with its splendid collection of<br />
old masters. The excursion will end with a canal ride through Old Amsterdam.<br />
Day 3 — Edam & Hoorn. Spend the day exploring the Zuider Zee. From<br />
Volendam drive to Edam, a tranquil little town with its drawbridges across<br />
canals and charming historic houses with their lovely facades. Continue on to<br />
Enkhuizen, considered by many to be the prettiest town in Holland with its well
