Day 4 — Wurzburg & Rothenburg. After breakfast arrive in historic Wurzburg,<br />
the wine capital of Franconia. Tour the city including the magnificent<br />
Residential Palace set in equally stunning parkland.<br />

position, high above the River T<strong>au</strong>ber. Later rejoin<br />
the vessel and sail.<br />
Day 5 — Bamberg. Arrive in Bamberg in the<br />
morning and enjoy a tour of one of Germany’s loveliest cities. Its relative<br />
geographical location, some 40 miles north of Nuremberg was a key factor in<br />
preserving its magnificent architectural heritage from the ravages of war. Every<br />
single European style from the Romanesque onwards, has left its mark on<br />
Bamberg, each bequeathing at least one major building.<br />
Day 6 — Nuremberg. Explore Nuremberg, the capital of Franconia on a guided<br />
tour of the old city within the vast walls. See Zeppelin Field and the site of the<br />
Nuremberg Trials, the Palace of Justice. Afternoon at leisure,<br />
those interested in the history of WWII may care to<br />
visit the Documentation Centre Museum.<br />
Day 7 — Kelheim & Regensburg. After a morning<br />
tour of Kelheim including Liberation Hall, sail<br />
through the Danube Gorge on small local boats and<br />
view the dramatic 400ft cliffs. After lunch drive to<br />
Regensburg to explore this fascinating and<br />
be<strong>au</strong>tiful medieval city. See the magnificent,<br />
twin-spired cathedral Dom St Peter, the<br />
treasury and the tower houses. Rejoin the<br />
<strong>MS</strong> <strong>Johann</strong> <strong>Str<strong>au</strong>ss</strong> which will have<br />
re-positioned to Regensburg. Sail in the late<br />

Day 8 — Pass<strong>au</strong>. Walking tour of the ancient fairytale Bavarian city of Pass<strong>au</strong>,<br />
the meeting point of the Danube, Ilz and Inn Rivers. See the old town and<br />
cathedral that houses the largest pipe organ in the world. After a short organ<br />
recital return to the vessel for lunch. Afternoon free in Pass<strong>au</strong>. Sail in the late<br />
afternoon.<br />
Day 9 — Melk & the Wach<strong>au</strong> Valley to Vienna. Visit the be<strong>au</strong>tiful Baroque<br />
abbey situated on a cliff, high above the Danube at Melk. Relax and enjoy the<br />
enchanting scenery as we cruise during lunch on our way to Vienna, arriving in<br />
the early evening. Moor overnight in Vienna.<br />
Day 10 — Vienna. A morning excursion will include the Hofburg Palace (outside<br />
only), St Stephen’s Cathedral and a drive around the famous Ringstrasse.<br />
Optional afternoon excursion to the summer palace of Schonbrunn.<br />
Day 11 — Bratislava. Arrive this morning in the capital of Slovakia. Formerly<br />
known as Pressburg this historic city is dominated by an enormous 9th century<br />
fortress. On a guided excursion see the old quarter, the ornate Baroque Palace<br />
and the ancient city gates.<br />

Day 12 — Esztergom & Budapest. Reach<br />
Esztergom, Hungary’s second city at breakfast time.<br />
You have the choice of an optional morning<br />
excursion to Visegrad or staying on board as we<br />
navigate the famous Danube Bend. Arrive in<br />
Budapest at lunch time. On our afternoon tour, visit<br />
Fisherman’s Bastion for marvellous views of the<br />
city, see the Mathias Church, which for centuries witnessed the coronations of<br />
the Kings of Hungary. Moor overnight in Budapest.<br />
Day 13 — Budapest to London. Disembark after breakfast and return to<br />
London by scheduled flight.<br />
