3 DAY TOUR<br />

Owned by the Buchanan family since 1765, Hodsock Priory and its<br />

gardens are situated in the heart of the 800-acre Hodsock Estate. Open<br />

from January to March each year it welcomes 30,000 visitors from all<br />

over Europe wanting to see the magical sight <strong>with</strong>in: a myriad of flowers<br />

filling the five-acre garden, <strong>with</strong> a half-mile woodland walk, carpeted <strong>with</strong><br />

snowdrops – sure to delight all.<br />

The Carlton Park Hotel<br />

A warm welcome awaits at this charming 3★ hotel. All rooms are ensuite,<br />

<strong>with</strong> TV, trouser press and tea & coffee-making facilities. There is a lift to<br />

all floors. The restaurant serves a mouth-watering menu and the hotel’s<br />

leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam<br />

room and gym.<br />

Itinerary<br />

TUESDAY – We leave the West Country and <strong>travel</strong> north, stopping for<br />

coffee en route, to the vibrant city of Nottingham. Whilst here you may like<br />

to visit Nottingham Castle, a magnificent museum and art gallery<br />

housing collections of silver, glass, and paintings, <strong>with</strong> spectacular views<br />

across the city. There is also a large selection of shops and restaurants<br />

to enjoy lunch. We later continue on to our hotel, allowing plenty of time<br />

to settle in and maybe make use of the leisure facilities before dinner.<br />

WEDNESDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Hodsock<br />

Priory where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent<br />

spectacle of the snowdrops and wander though the woods. There is also<br />

a tearoom, Plant Stall and Gift Shop. We later <strong>travel</strong> on to Chesterfield,<br />

where town meets the countryside, and the Peak District meets Robin<br />

Hood Country. As well as enjoying a leisurely lunch and browsing the<br />

shops, you may like to visit the Parish church <strong>with</strong> the its 228ft crooked<br />

spire which leans nearly 9ft from its true centre and moves a little further<br />

every year… but it is still a long way from falling over!<br />

THURSDAY – We leave our hotel this morning and make our way to<br />

Bakewell – an ancient town in the heart of the Peak District National Park<br />

and home to the famed Bakewell Pudding! Whilst here, you will have time<br />

to browse the shops and enjoy an early lunch before we continue our<br />

homeward journey, <strong>with</strong> a stop for tea en route, and arriving back in the<br />

West Country early evening.<br />

A WEEKEND IN<br />

BOURNEMOUTH & POOLE<br />

As one of Britain’s world-class resorts, Bournemouth has everything you<br />

need for an enjoyable short break, whatever the time of year and<br />

whatever your age. There is the sea, the shops, the many picturesque<br />

walks and an abundance of places to eat. Poole is another firm favourite,<br />

<strong>with</strong> its bustling quay, striking natural harbour and indoor shopping<br />

centre.<br />

Aptly named after its unusual circular design, the 3* Roundhouse is<br />

renowned for its friendly, informal atmosphere. Each of the tastefully<br />

decorated rooms is ensuite, <strong>with</strong> TV, telephone, hairdryer, trouser press<br />

and tea & coffee-making facilities. The Wave restaurant offers a delicious<br />

buffet dinner and breakfast and the Circles bar provides the perfect<br />

setting for pre- or post-dinner drinks. There is also a lift to all floors.<br />

SATURDAY – We depart our home area and journey east to Dorchester<br />

for coffee. We then continue to Bournemouth, where you will have the<br />

remainder of the day free to spend as you please… have lunch, then<br />

maybe browse the shops and take a walk along the promenade. Late<br />

afternoon we make the short journey to our hotel, <strong>with</strong> time to settle in<br />

and relax before a leisurely evening dinner and an evening to spend as<br />

you please.<br />

SUNDAY –After a leisurely breakfast we leave our hotel and make our<br />

way to picturesque Poole. Whilst here you may like to visit the excellent<br />

shopping centre, the old town or the scenic harbour, and enjoy lunch in<br />

one of a large choice of restaurants. We later complete our homeward<br />

journey, arriving early-evening.<br />
