A coastal resort in attractive Pembrokeshire, Tenby is situated on a narrow promontory<br />

jutting out into Camarthan Bay. Once a prosperous port, Georgian houses overlook<br />

the picturesque harbour <strong>with</strong> its generous sandy beaches.<br />

Owned by the same family for over sixty years, the Clarence House enjoys an<br />

excellent position in the centre of the esplanade. All rooms are non-smoking and<br />

ensuite, <strong>with</strong> TV and tea & coffee-making facilities. Some rooms have spectacular sea<br />

views. There is a lift to all floors, and the restaurant serves highly recommended<br />

cuisine <strong>with</strong> a choice of menu. Entertainment is provided in addition to a free in-house<br />

bar, on selected drinks, for 1 hour each evening.<br />

MONDAY – We leave our home area and <strong>travel</strong> to Sanders Garden World for coffee,<br />

before continuing over the border into Wales and on to Abergavenny for lunch. We<br />

complete our journey to Tenby, arriving at our hotel <strong>with</strong> ample time to settle in before<br />

dinner and an evening of entertainment.<br />

TUESDAY – The whole day is free for you to spend as you please in Tenby…you<br />

might like to visit the castle, one of the museums or an art gallery near the picturesque<br />

harbour. There are also some lovely shops to browse and cafes to sample the local<br />

cuisine and enjoy coffee, lunch…and tea! As our hotel is located in Tenby, you can<br />

spend as much or as little time exploring as you wish.<br />

WEDNESDAY – This morning we <strong>travel</strong> to Carmarthen, for market day; a neat little<br />

county town, full of pretty shops and surrounded by the River Towy. Whilst here you<br />

will have time to hunt for a bargain, browse the shops and sample the local cuisine.<br />

After lunch we make our way to Laugharne, a quiet town on the Taf Estuary where<br />

Welsh poet Dylan Thomas lived and is buried. His Boathouse and writing shed, where<br />

he wrote Under Milk Wood, are well worth a visit. There are also imposing castle ruins<br />

and a teashop nearby.<br />

THURSDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we make our way north, <strong>travel</strong>ling through the<br />

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – an area of outstanding natural beauty – to<br />

Cardigan for lunch. We return via the world-famous Cenarth Falls where the salmon<br />

leap, and Saundersfoot, a very pretty harbour village, <strong>with</strong> time to browse the gift<br />

shops and enjoy tea.<br />

FRIDAY – Sadly we leave our hotel after breakfast and make our way to the Welsh<br />

capital, Cardiff. Whist here you may like to visit the castle and discover 2000 years of<br />

history in the heart of the city. Through the Norman Conquest to lavish Victorian<br />

design, all have left their distinctive mark on the Castle. There are also an abundance<br />

of shops to browse and restaurants to enjoy a leisurely lunch, before we complete our<br />

homeward journey into England, arriving early-evening.<br />

FRIDAY – We leave the West Country and make our way to Sanders Garden World<br />

for coffee, before continuing over the St. David’s bridge to Abergavenny for lunch and<br />

time to browse the shops. We complete our journey to our hotel <strong>with</strong> time to settle in<br />

before dinner.<br />

SATURDAY – The morning is free for you to spend as you please and explore the<br />

Victorian town of Llandrindod Wells. There are some lovely shops to browse and<br />

cafés to enjoy an early lunch. Join us this afternoon as we make the short journey to<br />

Rhayader to the Welsh Royal Crystal factory where you can see beautiful pieces being<br />

hand crafted and buy in the factory shop and have tea. We return via some lovely<br />

Welsh countryside <strong>with</strong> time to relax before dinner and evening entertainment.<br />

SUNDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we <strong>travel</strong> across to the west coast of Wales, to<br />

the pretty town of Aberystwyth, <strong>with</strong> its castle, pier and harbour. You may like to take<br />

a ride on the Electric Cliff Railway, the longest of its kind in Britain, where the summit<br />

reveals an amazing panorama which on a clear day extends as far as the Preseli Hills<br />

in Pembrokeshire to the south and the mountains of Snowdonia to the North. After<br />

lunch we join a narrow gauge steam train, one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, for<br />

an unforgettable 11? mile journey through the spectacular Rheidol Valley, <strong>with</strong> some<br />

spectacular views. Our destination is Devil's Bridge, where you can enjoy a cup of tea<br />

before we rejoin the coach. Dinner this evening will also be followed by evening<br />

entertainment.<br />

MONDAY – After a leisurely breakfast we leave our hotel and make our way to<br />

Hereford, <strong>with</strong> its meandering ancient streets between half-timbered buildings and its<br />

impressive cathedral, dating back to Saxon times, and the treasured medieval Mappa<br />

Mundi, near the winding River Wye. There is also the stylish Maylord Shopping Centre<br />

where you can browse the shops and enjoy a leisurely lunch. We later make our way<br />

back to the West Country, stopping for tea en route and arriving early evening.<br />
