<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> provides the<br />

resources for individual<br />

organizations.<br />

Every hour <strong>of</strong> every day, hundreds <strong>of</strong> people need essential human<br />

services—they are looking for training, employment, food pantries, help<br />

for an aging parent, addiction prevention programs for their teenage<br />

children, affordable housing options, support groups and ways <strong>of</strong><br />

becoming part <strong>of</strong> their community.<br />

<strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong>’s 2-1-1 service allows people to give help and to get help<br />

24 hours a day, 365 days a year. <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> 2-1-1 was created in 1976 as<br />

a public/private partnership <strong>of</strong> <strong>United</strong> <strong>Way</strong> and the State <strong>of</strong> <strong>Connecticut</strong>.<br />

Dial 2-1-1 and an operator will assist you. Multilingual caseworkers<br />

are onhand, and TDD access is available.<br />

2-1-1 ONLINE<br />

Visit www.211ct.org and search by category, town, agency name, and<br />

a number <strong>of</strong> other search options.<br />

2-1-1 NAVIGATOR<br />

Visit navigator.211ct.org and complete an anonymous two minute<br />

questionnaire to determine if you’re eligible for 24 different state<br />

and federal aid programs.<br />

Greater Danbury Nonpr<strong>of</strong>it Resource Center<br />

The Greater Danbury Nonpr<strong>of</strong>it Resource Center is a program <strong>of</strong> UWWC and<br />

plays an important role in building capacity for the nonpr<strong>of</strong>it community. The<br />

GDNRC serves the communities <strong>of</strong> Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury,<br />

New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman.<br />

Their mission is to strengthen nonpr<strong>of</strong>it performance and impact in Greater<br />

Danbury by:<br />

• Increasing communication among nonpr<strong>of</strong>its, resource providers<br />

and funders<br />

• Providing local, high quality education and training experiences<br />

• Providing organizational assessment and planning services<br />

• Matching volunteers with pr<strong>of</strong>essional skills to local nonpr<strong>of</strong>its<br />
