<strong>2.</strong> 4 th Annual Athletic Meet 2008-2009:<br />
Organized a 4 th Annual Athletic Meet 2008-2009 on 30 th March 2009 in BCET. Sh.<br />
Nilkanth S. Avhad, IAS, DC Gurdaspur was the Chief Guest.<br />
3. North East States Cultural Festival 2009:<br />
Organized a North East states cultural festival <strong>of</strong> folk dances on 6 th April 2009 in the<br />
college in association with North East Cultural Zone Patiala and district<br />
administration Gurdaspur. Participant <strong>of</strong> 7 North Eastern Sister States participated in<br />
the cultural festival. Sh. Depurva Lakra. IAS, SDM Dhar Kalan presided over the<br />
function.<br />
4. Accreditation <strong>of</strong> College from NBA (National Board <strong>of</strong> Accreditation):<br />
AICTE-NBA expert committee consisting <strong>of</strong> 6 members visited the college on 10 th -<br />
12 th April 2009 for accreditation <strong>of</strong> three B. Tech. courses via; Computer Science &<br />
Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical<br />
Engineering. Consequent <strong>of</strong> evaluation <strong>of</strong> human recourses, infrastructure and<br />
technical teaching learning process, NBA has given accreditation to these three<br />
courses <strong>of</strong> BCET Gurdaspur for 3 years w.e.f 10 th July 2009 to 10 th July 201<strong>2.</strong> This is<br />
a matter <strong>of</strong> great pleasure and pride not only for the State <strong>of</strong> Punjab but also for the<br />
Border District that BCET achieved a major success by getting Accreditation and has<br />
become the First accredited college <strong>of</strong> Engineering & Technology established,<br />
managed and promoted by Govt. <strong>of</strong> Punjab.

5. Workshop Conducted:<br />
Organized a Robotics Workshop “Robokriti” in BCET in association with<br />
Technophilia Solutions, Mumbai on 18 th -19 th April 2009. Besides students <strong>of</strong> our<br />
college, more than 100 students participated from neighboring institutions.<br />
6. Award <strong>of</strong> Honour by Hon’ble Governor <strong>of</strong> Punjab:<br />
Award <strong>of</strong> Honour was presented to the BCET on account <strong>of</strong> maximum contribution<br />
on the occasion <strong>of</strong> Flag Day and NSS programs by His Excellency Gen. <strong>Dr</strong>. S.F.<br />
Rodrigues PVSM & VSM, Hon’ble Governor <strong>of</strong> Punjab & President <strong>of</strong> Indian Red<br />
Cross Society, Chandigarh on the occasion <strong>of</strong> World Red Cross Day celebrations on<br />
8 th May 2009 at Tagore Theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh.<br />
7. 1 st Annual Convocation:<br />
1 st annual convocation was organized on 20 th May 2009 in BCET since its inception<br />
in 1995. <strong>Dr</strong>. Rajneesh Arora, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Technical University,<br />
Jalandhar presided over as Chief Guest, delivered the Convocation Address and<br />
conferred the degrees to 270 students.<br />
8. 10+2 School:<br />
Beant Senior Secondary School <strong>of</strong> 10+2 Non-medical stream has been started in<br />
BCET w.e.f June 2009 for the session 2009-2010. Affiliation from PSEB, Mohali has<br />
been taken with School No GS 2407 and 50 students were admitted in 10+<strong>1.</strong><br />
9. Polytechnic Wing:<br />
Beant College <strong>of</strong> Engineering & Technology (Polytechnic Wing) Gurdaspur was<br />
started in the month <strong>of</strong> August 2009. Polytechnic wing has approval from from<br />
AICTE and Govt. <strong>of</strong> Punjab for three diploma courses with intake <strong>of</strong> 180. During<br />
online counseling and direct admissions 195 students were admitted including<br />
admission under fee wavier scheme.<br />
10. Plantation Camp in the College:<br />
Organized a plantation camp in BCET on 28 th August 2009 with variety <strong>of</strong> more than<br />
300 plants. All HODs, coordinators, section in charges, faculty, staff and student took<br />
active part in the camp.<br />
1<strong>1.</strong> New Course <strong>of</strong> M. Tech. Computer Science & Engineering:<br />
New course <strong>of</strong> M. Tech. CSE part time was stated from academic session 2009-2010<br />
in the department <strong>of</strong> Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology<br />
under the Regional Center <strong>of</strong> PTU at BCET with intake <strong>of</strong> 25 seats. All seats were<br />
filled in the 1 st Batch CSE. All seats were also filled in M.Tech <strong>of</strong> ECE and ME at<br />
BCET Gurdaspur.

1<strong>2.</strong> Blood Donation Camp:<br />
Blood donation camp was organized in BCET under NSS on 10 th September 2009 in<br />
association with Civil Hospital and Blood Bank Gurdaspur. More than 200 students<br />
participated and 125 units <strong>of</strong> blood were donated by the students. <strong>Dr</strong>. Karamjit <strong>Singh</strong><br />
Sra. IAS, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur inaugurated the camp.<br />
13. Research Promotion Schemes:<br />
Helped and motivated the faculty <strong>of</strong> BCET to get funds under Research Promotion<br />
Schemes sponsored by AICTE amounting to Rs. 33.5 Lakhs. This amount has been<br />
received in BCET and projects are under active progress.<br />
14. Filling up <strong>of</strong> all Seats at BCET Gurdaspur:<br />
Almost all seats were filled in Beant Senior Secondary School, Beant Polytechnic,<br />
Beant College <strong>of</strong> Engineering and Technology and in Regional Center <strong>of</strong> PTU at<br />
Beant College for three M. Tech. part time courses <strong>of</strong> ME, CSE & ECE. This is first<br />
time that all seats were filled up for three M. Tech courses.<br />
In addition to this, improvement in placements <strong>of</strong> students, short term courses,<br />
placements <strong>of</strong> faculty and staff in higher scales, sponsoring the faculty to international<br />
conference in USA, UK and France with full funding from different funding agencies,<br />
international expert lecture, starting the construction <strong>of</strong> auditorium, completion <strong>of</strong><br />
pending civil works are also notable achievements as Principal, BCET Gurdaspur.<br />

as Principal <strong>MIMIT</strong> <strong>Malout</strong> in association with faculty, staff and students for the<br />
progress and improvement <strong>of</strong> corporate life <strong>of</strong> faculty, staff and students:<br />
1 <strong>MIMIT</strong> got position amongst the first five Engg. Colleges affiliated to PTU<br />
According to the Student Information Booklet released by Punjab Technical<br />
University, Jalandhar, the Institute has gotten position amongst the first five<br />
Engineering Colleges/Institutions affiliated to PTU. This ranking is based on<br />
Academic Performance, Faculty, Public Perception, Placement Records and<br />
Infrastructure. Due to this achievement, about all seats have been filled up during<br />
academic session <strong>of</strong> 2011-201<strong>2.</strong><br />
2 Organized 2 nd Convocation & 1 st Alumni Meet<br />
The Institute was established by Govt. <strong>of</strong> Punjab in 1998. The Institute get registered<br />
MAA (<strong>MIMIT</strong> Alumni Association) and organized its 2 nd Convocation and 1 st<br />
Alumni Meet on 1<strong>1.</strong>1<strong>1.</strong>2010 after a gap <strong>of</strong> 8 years in which <strong>Dr</strong>. Rajneesh Arora, Vice<br />
Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest and<br />
Principal, Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa Institute <strong>of</strong> Engg was the Guest <strong>of</strong> Honor. In this<br />
convocation about 200 degrees were distributed to MBA and B.Tech students. About<br />
250 old students were registered as member <strong>of</strong> MAA and exchanged their views.

3. Organized 3 rd Convocation & 2 nd Alumni Meet<br />
The Institute organized its 3 rd Convocation and 2 nd Alumni Meet on 24.March 2012<br />
after a gap <strong>of</strong> 8 years in which <strong>Dr</strong>. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, Punjab<br />
Technical University, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest and Principal, Guru Teg<br />
Bahadur Khalsa Institute <strong>of</strong> Engg was the Guest <strong>of</strong> Honor. In this convocation about<br />
247 degrees were distributed to MBA and B.Tech students. About 300 old students<br />
were registered as member <strong>of</strong> MAA and exchanged their views.<br />
4. 1 st Athletic Meet<br />
The Institute could not organize Athletic Meets for the last many yeas due to lack <strong>of</strong><br />
play grounds or paucity <strong>of</strong> vacant land. In view the importance <strong>of</strong> athletics for the<br />
students, the Institute organized successfully athletic meet from 2<strong>2.</strong><strong>2.</strong>2011 to<br />
23.<strong>2.</strong>2011 on the vacant land <strong>of</strong> PUDA adjacent to the Institute. <strong>Dr</strong>. D.S. Grewal,<br />
Principal, GTBKIET was the chief Guest on the inaugural ceremony and S. Harpreet<br />
<strong>Singh</strong>, MLA, <strong>Malout</strong> was the chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony. All<br />
students participated in this athletic meet with full enthusiasm.<br />
5. 2 nd Athletic meet<br />
The Institute organized successfully 2 nd athletic meet from 03.03.2012 to 04.03.2012<br />
in the newly constructed building <strong>of</strong> <strong>MIMIT</strong> on the grounds developed by in indttute<br />
itself on the back side <strong>of</strong> building <strong>of</strong> the Institute. Su Arsdeep <strong>Singh</strong>, IAS, DC, Shri<br />
Mauktsar Sahib was the chief Guest on the inaugural ceremony and S. Harsh Kumar<br />
Bansal, IPS, SSP Shri Mauktsar Sahib was the chief Guest at the Prize Distribution<br />
Ceremony. All students participated in this athletic meet with full enthusiasm.<br />
6. Other Sports Activities<br />
(i)<br />
PTU's Handball Tournament<br />
The Institute was entrusted the responsibility for organizing Hand Ball<br />
Tournament (Men & Women) by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The<br />
Institute organized it successfully from 17.9.2010 to 18.9.2010. Teams from<br />
25 colleges affiliated to Punjab Technical University participated in this<br />
tournament. The Chief Guest <strong>of</strong> Inaugural ceremony <strong>of</strong> this tournament was<br />
Sh. Babru Vaheen Bansal, Member, BOG and Sh. Mukhwinder <strong>Singh</strong> Bhuller,<br />
PPS, DSP, <strong>Malout</strong> was the chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Function. The<br />
Boys team <strong>of</strong> <strong>MIMIT</strong> got 2 nd position (runner up) in this tournament.<br />
(ii)<br />
National Level Competition: Langri Game<br />
Punjab Langri Association organized Langri Game in the Institute from<br />
24.6.2011 to 26.6.201<strong>1.</strong> Teams <strong>of</strong> 14/15 states all over the India (men &<br />
women) participated in this game. The Chief Guest <strong>of</strong> inaugural ceremony was<br />
Sh. Harpreet <strong>Singh</strong>, MLA, <strong>Malout</strong> and Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution<br />
Function was Hon'ble Surjeet Kumar Jiyani, Minister, TE & IT, Punjab-cum-<br />
Chairman, BOG, <strong>MIMIT</strong> <strong>Malout</strong>.

7. PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival<br />
The Institute organized PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival from 18.1<strong>1.</strong>2010 to<br />
20.1<strong>1.</strong>2010 for the 1 st time in the Institution and 1 st time in the College established by<br />
the Govt <strong>of</strong> Punjab. In this festival about 60 teams from 26 colleges (4 zones)<br />
affiliated to PTU participated. The Chief Guest <strong>of</strong> the Inaugural ceremony was Sh.<br />
Gurtej <strong>Singh</strong> Ghuriana, MLA, Baluawana and Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution<br />
Function was Sh. V.K. Sharma, IAS, then Director, TE & IT, Punjab. <strong>MIMIT</strong> got 2 nd<br />
position (Overall runner up) in this PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival.<br />
8. Facility <strong>of</strong> ATM and Documents Shop for Faculty, Staff and Students<br />
There was no facility <strong>of</strong> Bank ATM and documents shop in the institute since its<br />
establishment. Due to this, the faculty, staff and students were to go to Market<br />
causing difficulty to them especially to the female staff and students. Keeping in view<br />
need, the Institute got installed an ATM <strong>of</strong> OBC Bank in the institute and opened a<br />
documents shop for facilities to the students.<br />
9. PTU Sponsored FDPs (Faculty Development Programmes)<br />
In view <strong>of</strong> development <strong>of</strong> faculty for quality education to the students, the Institute<br />
conducting 4 Faculty Development programme sponsored by Punjab Technical<br />
University, Jalandhar with grant <strong>of</strong> Rs. 65000 each . The Institute invited expert <strong>of</strong><br />
the relevant field and distinguished personalities for delivering the expert lectures as<br />
approved by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. These FDPs approved by PTU<br />
were conducted 1 st time since the inception <strong>of</strong> the Institute.<br />
10. Celebration <strong>of</strong> National Days<br />
Earlier, the Institute was not celebrating the National Days such as Independence Day<br />
and Republic Day in a formal way. Keeping in view the importance <strong>of</strong> these days, the<br />
Independence Day and Republic Day are being celebrated in the institute in a formal<br />
way from year 2010 onward in the presence <strong>of</strong> all faculty, staff and students.<br />
1<strong>1.</strong> Talent Search Programme<br />
The Institute organizes Intra Institute Talent Search Cultural Competition in 201<strong>1.</strong> In<br />
this function, the students showed their talent in the different field. The program was<br />
well organized and the students took part with great enthusiasm. Besides, like every<br />
year, Akhand Path and Jagran were also held in the Institute for the progress, peace<br />
and prosperity <strong>of</strong> the Institute.<br />
1<strong>2.</strong> Co-operation to Local and District Administration<br />
The Institute provides every type <strong>of</strong> co-operation and assistance to the Local and<br />
District Administration from time to time during the visits <strong>of</strong> VVIPs, Censes<br />
operation, Elections etc. Assistance is also provided to the institutes opened by the<br />
Govt. <strong>of</strong> Punjab such as: Construction Skill Training Institute at Abul Khurana, in<br />
collaboration with Larson and Turbo and Automotive and <strong>Dr</strong>iving Institute in<br />
collaboration with Tata Motors at Village Mahuana.

13. Revival <strong>of</strong> M. Tech. (Industrial Engg) and Starting <strong>of</strong> M. Tech. Mech Engg<br />
The Institute started M.Tech. Industrial Engg (part time) under the Regional Centre <strong>of</strong><br />
PTU in the long back. Due to poor admission, the Institute closed this programme.<br />
This program was revived with the approval <strong>of</strong> PTU in the year 2010 and out 25<br />
approved seats, 17 students were admitted. From the current academic session,<br />
M.Tech. Mechanical Engg (part time) has been added.<br />
14. Tree Plantations and Cleanliness Camps<br />
To keep the environment green and clean, the NSS wing <strong>of</strong> the Institute organized<br />
two tree plantation camps in newly constructed building and pre-fabricated building<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Institute in which more than 1000 trees were planted. For the cleanliness <strong>of</strong> the<br />
campus, the NSS wing <strong>of</strong> the institute arranged a cleanliness camp in the above said<br />
buildings. About 400 students participated in for these noble causes.<br />
15. Repair <strong>of</strong> the Hostels<br />
Presently, the Institute has two hostel one each for Boys and Girls with the capacity <strong>of</strong><br />
120 and 60 students respectively. Due to shortage <strong>of</strong> hostels, many students are not<br />
being provided hostel's facility in the Institute's campus thus causing affect to the<br />
admissions. Out <strong>of</strong> the two existing hostels, the renovation/repair <strong>of</strong> one hostel has<br />
been made and another hostel will be got repaired/renovated in the summer vacations<br />
in June, 201<strong>2.</strong><br />
16. CRC Park's Fountain Made Operational<br />
The Institute has its own CRC (Community Recreational Club) park adjoining to main<br />
building which was purchased by the Institute from PUDA. This park is opened for<br />
the general public <strong>of</strong> the city in the morning and evening. Fountain <strong>of</strong> this park was<br />
not working from last many years. Now, this fountain has been re-started after its<br />
repair/renovation. Consequently, the arrival <strong>of</strong> the public in this park has been<br />
increased about four times.<br />
17. Development <strong>of</strong> a Park for the Institute's Residents<br />
Presently, about 22 faculty and staff members along with their family are residing in<br />
the Society accommodation in the campus. But there was no park for the faculty, staff<br />
and their children in the residential complex. In the year 2010, the Institute has<br />
developed a park in the residential area with modern facilities <strong>of</strong> playing for the<br />
entertainment <strong>of</strong> the children.<br />
18. Increased the Bandwidth <strong>of</strong> Internet Leased Line Connectivity<br />
Earlier, the Institute was having 6 mbps leased line in its Wi-Fi campus and the<br />
availability <strong>of</strong> the internet facility was limited only up to the computer labs and<br />
<strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> faculty/staff members. Keeping in view strength & interest <strong>of</strong> the student,<br />
the leased line has been increased to 18 mbps. Wi-fi is accessible in all places <strong>of</strong> the<br />
campus and now the students can avail the internet facility even in the hostels and<br />
anywhere in the campus.

19. Proposals/Projects Applied to ACITE for Grants<br />
The Institute has sent nine proposals to AICTE for getting grants under MODROBs<br />
and Staff Development Scheme in February, 2011 for the modernization <strong>of</strong> its lab and<br />
to strengthen infrastructure. It is expected that the some <strong>of</strong> above proposals would be<br />
approved by AICTE and Institute will get funds. The Institute has also sent a<br />
proposal to MHRD, New Delhi, through Govt <strong>of</strong> Punjab for seeking grant <strong>of</strong> Rs. 10<br />
Crore under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) scheme.<br />
Institution Eligibility Proposal sent by the Institute was cleared by the MHRD.<br />
Thereafter the Institute sent Institutional Development Proposal to MHRD but the<br />
proposal was rejected due to the shortage <strong>of</strong> 50% faculty even after obtaining<br />
maximum marks by the Institute amongst the Punjab Govt. Promoted<br />
Institutes/Colleges.<br />
20. Placements<br />
Earlier, the placement <strong>of</strong> the students was poor and some companies visited the<br />
Institute for students' placement. But from the year 2010 onwards many students have<br />
been placed in national and multi national companies. So far, about 160 students have<br />
been placed in the various companies since 2010.Thus, substantial increase has been<br />
made in the student's placement. Efforts are being made to enhance liasioning with<br />
more and more Companies/Industrial Houses to arrange for on /<strong>of</strong>f camps interview<br />
and for training and placement <strong>of</strong> students.<br />
2<strong>1.</strong> Encouraged Faculty for International Conference<br />
The Institute has made efforts to send its faculty to attend International Conferences.<br />
The Institute had sent <strong>Dr</strong>. Jaskaran <strong>Singh</strong> Bhuller, Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor (Maths) in<br />
Beijing (China) to attend an International Conference on Information Theory and<br />
Information Security held w.e.f. 17.1<strong>2.</strong>2010 to 19.1<strong>2.</strong>2010.<br />
2<strong>2.</strong> Observed International Women Day and National Technology Day<br />
International Women Day was celebrated by the Institute for the 1 st time. <strong>Dr</strong>. S.C.<br />
Sharma was invited to deliver a lecture to faculty, staff and students on the<br />
importance <strong>of</strong> this day. National Technology Day sponsored by department <strong>of</strong><br />
Science and Technology was also celebrated in the Institute. <strong>Dr</strong>. Prithpal <strong>Singh</strong>,<br />
Founder Principal was the special invitee on this occasion.<br />
23. Institute's Magazines and Souvenirs<br />
For the 1 st time, Institute's Magazine was printed in the year 2003. After a gap <strong>of</strong> 7<br />
years, the Institute again published <strong>MIMIT</strong>IAN 2010 and <strong>MIMIT</strong>IAN 2011 in which<br />
the faculty, staff and students express their views. As such, first time, the Institute<br />
also published Souvenir 2010 and Souvenir 201<strong>1.</strong> The copy <strong>of</strong> these Institute's<br />
Magazines to all students and Souvenirs to pass out students was given.<br />
In addition to this, improvement in discipline, academic environment, technical<br />
teaching learning process, regularization <strong>of</strong> faculty and staff, need based infrastructure

development, human recourses development, optimization utilization <strong>of</strong> available<br />
