3. Selection as Dean in PTU Jalandhar:
Subject to advertisement for the post of Dean on deputation by PTU Jalandhar, the
appointment letter was issued to me in the month of June 2008 for the post of Dean on

deputation for one year extendable up to three years. I was not relieved by the Govt.
of Punjab to join my new assignment for the reasons not known to me and
consequently my appointment was withdrawn by the University. I was selected again
as Dean on regular basis by the Vice Chancellor, PTU and Principal, MIMIT Malout
by Govt of Punjab in the Month of February 2010. I preferred to join as Principal,
MIMIT Malout.

14. In addition of routine duties, some of the following notable achievements were made
w.e.f 20-03-2009 to 02-03-2010 as Principal BCET Gurdaspur in nassociation with
faculty, staff and students for progress and improvement of corporate life of faculty,
staff and students:
1. Finance Committee Meeting:
Organized a 20 th Finance Committee meeting of BCET on 26 th March 2009 in the
office of the Principal Secretary TE&IT cum Chairperson, Finance Committee.
2. 4 th Annual Athletic Meet 2008-2009:
Organized a 4 th Annual Athletic Meet 2008-2009 on 30 th March 2009 in BCET. Sh.
Nilkanth S. Avhad, IAS, DC Gurdaspur was the Chief Guest.
3. North East States Cultural Festival 2009:
Organized a North East states cultural festival of folk dances on 6 th April 2009 in the
college in association with North East Cultural Zone Patiala and district
administration Gurdaspur. Participant of 7 North Eastern Sister States participated in
the cultural festival. Sh. Depurva Lakra. IAS, SDM Dhar Kalan presided over the
function.
4. Accreditation: BCET Gurdaspur from NBA (National Board of Accreditation):
AICTE-NBA expert committee consisting of 6 members visited the college on
10 th -12 th April 2009 for accreditation of three B. Tech. courses via; Computer
Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and
Mechanical Engineering. Consequent of evaluation of human recourses,
infrastructure and technical teaching learning process, NBA has given
accreditation to these three courses of BCET Gurdaspur for 3 years w.e.f 10 th
July 2009 to 10 th July 2012. This is a matter of great pleasure and pride not only
for the State of Punjab but also for the Border District that BCET achieved a
major success by getting Accreditation and has become the First Accredited
College of Engineering & Technology Established, Managed and Promoted by
Govt. of Punjab.

5. Workshop Conducted:
Organized a Robotics Workshop “Robokriti” in BCET in association with
Technophilia Solutions, Mumbai on 18 th -19 th April 2009. Besides students of our
college, more than 100 students participated from neighboring institutions.
6. Award of Honour by Hon’ble Governor of Punjab:
Award of Honour was presented to the BCET on account of maximum contribution
on the occasion of Flag Day and NSS programs by His Excellency Gen. Dr. S.F.
Rodrigues PVSM & VSM, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & President of Indian Red
Cross Society, Chandigarh on the occasion of World Red Cross Day celebrations on
8 th May 2009 at Tagore Theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh.
7. 1 st Annual Convocation:
1 st annual convocation was organized on 20 th May 2009 in BCET since its inception
in 1995. Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Technical University,
Jalandhar presided over as Chief Guest, delivered the Convocation Address and
conferred the degrees to 270 students.
8. 10+2 School:
Beant Senior Secondary School of 10+2 Non-medical stream has been started in
BCET w.e.f June 2009 for the session 2009-2010. Affiliation from PSEB, Mohali has
been taken with School No GS 2407 and 50 students were admitted in 10+1.
9. Polytechnic Wing:
Beant College of Engineering & Technology (Polytechnic Wing) Gurdaspur was
started in the month of August 2009. Polytechnic wing has approval from from
AICTE and Govt. of Punjab for three diploma courses with intake of 180. During
online counseling and direct admissions 195 students were admitted including
admission under fee wavier scheme.
10. Plantation Camp in the College:
Organized a plantation camp in BCET on 28 th August 2009 with variety of more than
300 plants. All HODs, coordinators, section in charges, faculty, staff and student took
active part in the camp.
11. New Course of M. Tech. Computer Science & Engineering:
New course of M. Tech. CSE part time was stated from academic session 2009-2010
in the department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology
under the Regional Center of PTU at BCET with intake of 25 seats. All seats were
filled in the 1 st Batch CSE. All seats were also filled in M.Tech of ECE and ME at
BCET Gurdaspur.

12. Blood Donation Camp:
Blood donation camp was organized in BCET under NSS on 10 th September 2009 in
association with Civil Hospital and Blood Bank Gurdaspur. More than 200 students
participated and 125 units of blood were donated by the students. Dr. Karamjit Singh
Sra. IAS, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur inaugurated the camp.
13. Research Promotion Schemes:
Helped and motivated the faculty of BCET to get funds under Research Promotion
Schemes sponsored by AICTE amounting to Rs. 33.5 Lakhs. This amount has been
received in BCET and projects are under active progress.
14. Filling up of all Seats at BCET Gurdaspur:
Almost all seats were filled in Beant Senior Secondary School, Beant Polytechnic,
Beant College of Engineering and Technology and in Regional Center of PTU at
Beant College for three M. Tech. part time courses of ME, CSE & ECE. This is first
time that all seats were filled up for three M. Tech courses. In addition to this,
improvement in placements of students, short term courses, placements of faculty and
staff in higher scales, sponsoring the faculty to international conference in USA, UK
and France with full funding from different funding agencies, international expert
lecture, starting the construction of auditorium, completion of pending civil works are
also notable achievements as Principal, BCET Gurdaspur.
15. In addition of routine duties, the following are some notable
Performances/Achievements as Principal MIMIT Malout in association with
Faculty, Staff and 1400 Students for the progress and improvement of
corporate life of institution at all levels:
1. MIMIT Amongst the First 5 Engineering Colleges affiliated to PTU
According to t h e Student Information Booklet released by Punjab
Technical University, Jalandhar, the I n s t i t u t e achieved p o s i t i o n
amongst the f i r s t f i v e Engineering Colleges/Institutions affiliated to
P T U . This r a n k i n g was b a s e d on Academic Performance of 1400
students, Previous Admissions, Public Perception, Placement Records and
Infrastructure. Due to this achievement, about all seats have been filled up
e x c e p t s o m e s e a t s o f I T a n d M B A during academic year of 2011-2012
and 2012-2013.
2. PTU Sponsored FDPs (Faculty Development Programmes)
In view of development of faculty for quality education to the students, the
Institute conducted 9 FDPs ( Faculty Development Programmes) sponsored by
Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar with grant of Rs. 65000/- each ( 3 FDPs
in the month of July, 2011, 2 FDPs in Jan.2012 and 4 FDPs have been conducted
in the month of May & June, 2012. The Institute invited expert i n the relevant
field and distinguished personalities for delivering the expert lectures as approved
by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

3. Revival of M. Tech. (Industrial Engg) and Starting of M. Tech. Mech Engg
The Institute started M.Tech. Industrial Engg (part time) under the Regional
Centre of PTU in the long back. Due to poor admission, the Institute closed
this programme. This program was revived with the approval of PTU in the
year 2010 and out o f 25 approved seats, 17 students were admitted. From
the academic year 2011-2012, M.Tech. Mechanical Engg (part time) has been
added. For the academic year 2012-2013, M. Tech. CSE and ECE (part Time) has
been applied to PTU for approval.
4. Proposals/Projects Applied to ACITE for Grants
The Institute has sent 9 proposals to AICTE for getting grants under
MODROBs and Staff Development Scheme in February, 2011 for the
modernization of its lab and to strengthen infrastructure. It is expected that above
proposals would be approved by AICTE and Institute will get funds.
The Institute has also sent a proposal to MHRD, New Delhi, through Govt of
Punjab for seeking a grant of Rs. 10 Crore under TEQIP (Technical Education
Quality Improvement Program) scheme. Institution Eligibility Proposal sent
by the Institute was cleared by the MHRD. Thereafter the Institute sent
Institutional Development Proposal to MHRD but the proposal was rejected
due to shortage faculty even after obtaining maximum marks by the Institute
in the evaluation amongst the Punjab Govt. Promoted Institutes/Colleges.
5. Placements
Earlier, the placement of the students was poor and some companies visited
the Institute for students' placement. But from the year 2010 onwards many
students have been placed in national and multi national companies. So far, about
194 students have been placed in the various multi national companies since
2010. Thus, substantial increase has been made in the student's placement.
Efforts are being made to enhance contacts with more and more
Companies/Industrial houses to arrange for on /off camps interview for training
and placement of students. The MAA (MIMIT Alumni Association) is playing
important role for placement of students.
6. Encouraged Faculty for International Conferences
The Institute has made efforts to send its faculty to attend International
Conferences. The Institute had sent Dr. Jaskaran Singh Bhuller, Associate
Professor (Mathematics) in Beijing (China) to attend an International Conference
on Information Theory and Information Security held w.e.f. 17.12.2010 to
19.12.2010 with a sanction grant from PTU and institute.

7. Nomination as a Member of BOG, PTU, Jalandhar
For the first time, Principal, MIMIT has been nominated as Member of BOG of
Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar amongst Govt. Promoted Engg.
Colleges/institutions by the then Hon'ble Chief Secretary to Govt. of Punjab cum
Chairman, BOG, PTU in occultation with Technical Education Minister cum
Chairman, BOG, MIMIT and the Principal Secretary to Govt of Punjab,
Depertment of TE&IT.
8. Formation of Various Clubs
The five clubs were formed in the institute since 2010 consisting of student members
to work under the guidance of HODs and faculty members. The main motive of these
clubs is to enhance the technical skills as well as managerial skill by organizing
activities such as Quizs Competition, Group Discussion, Debate, Expert Lecture,
Workshop, Games and Technical Presentations, etc.
9. Organized 2 nd Convocation & 1 st Alumni Meet
The Institute was established by Govt. of Punjab in 1998. The Institute get
registered MAA (MIMIT Alumni Association) and organized its 2nd
Convocation and 1st Alumni Meet on 11.11.2010 after a gap of 8 years. Dr.
Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar was
the Chief Guest and Principal, Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa Institute of Engg and
Technology was the Guest of Honor. In this convocation, about 200 degrees were
distributed to MBA and B.Tech students. About 250 old students were registered
as member of MAA and they exchanged their views and experiences during the
alumni meet.
10. Organized 3 rd Convocation & 2 nd Alumni Meet
The Institute organized its 3 rd Convocation and 2 nd Alumni Meet on 24.March
2012. Dr. D.S. Hira, Vice Chancellor, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi
Sabo was the Chief Guest. In this convocation about 247 degrees were
distributed to MBA and B.Tech students. About 300 old students were
registered as member of MAA and they exchanged their views and experiences
during the alumni meet.
11. 4 th Athletic Meet
The Institute could not organize Athletic Meets for the last many yeas due to
lack of play grounds and paucity of vacant land. In view the importance of
athletics for the students, the I n s t i t u t e organized successfully athletic
meet f r o m 2 2 . 2 . 2 0 1 1 to 23.2.2011 on the vacant land of PUDA adjacent
to the Institute. Dr. D.S. Grewal, Principal, GTBKIET was the chief Guest on
the inaugural ceremony and S. Harpreet Singh, MLA, Malout was the chief
Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony. All students participated in this
athletic meet with full enthusiasm.

12. 5 th Athletic meet
The Institute organized successfully 2 nd athletic meet from 01.03.2012 to
02.03.2012 in the newly constructed building of MIMIT on the grounds developed
by the Institute itself on the back side of building of the Institute. Sh. Arshdeep
Singh Thind, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Mauktsar Sahib was the chief Guest
on the inaugural ceremony and S. Harsh Kumar Bansal, IPS, SSP Shri Mauktsar
Sahib was the chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony. All students
participated in this athletic meet with full enthusiasm.
13. Other Sports Activities
(i)
PTU's Handball Tournament
The Institute was entrusted the responsibility for organizing Hand Ball Tournament
(Men & Women) by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. The Institute
organized it successfully from 17.9.2010 to 18.9.2010. Teams from 25 colleges
affiliated to Punjab Technical University participated in this tournament. The Chief
Guest of Inaugural ceremony of this tournament was Sh. Babru Vaheen Bansal,
Member, BOG and Sh. Mukhwinder Singh Bhuller, PPS, DSP, Malout was the
Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Function. The Boys team of MIMIT got 2 nd
position (runner up) in this tournament.

National Level Competition: Langri Game
Punjab Langri Association organized Langri Game in the Institute from
24.6.2011 to 26.6.2011. Teams of 14/15 states all over the India (Men &
Women) participated in this game. The Chief Guest of inaugural ceremony was Sh.
Harpreet Singh, MLA, Malout and Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Function
was Hon'ble Surjeet Kumar Jiyani, Minister, TE & IT, Punjab-cum- Chairman,
BOG, MIMIT Malout.
14. PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival
The I n s t i t u t e organized PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival from
18.11.2010 to 20.11.2010 for the 1 st time in the Institution and 1 st time in the
Colleges established by the Govt of Punjab. In this festival, about 60 teams
participated from 26 colleges (4 zones) affiliated to PTU. The Chief Guest of
the Inaugural ceremony was Sh. Gurtej Singh Ghuriana, MLA, Balluana and
Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Function was Sh. V.K. Sharma, IAS, then
Director, TE & IT, Punjab. MIMIT got 2 nd position (Overall runner up) in this
PTU Inter Zonal Youth Festival.
15. Facility of ATM and Documents Shop for Faculty, Staff and Students
There was no facility of Bank ATM and documents shop in the institute since
its establishment. Due to this, the faculty, staff and students were to go to
Market causing difficulty especially to the female staff and students. Keeping in
view need, the Institute got installed an ATM of OBC Bank in the institute and
opened a documents shop for facilities to all faculty, staff and 1400 students.

16. Celebration of National Days
Earlier, the Institute was not celebrating the National Days such as Independence
Day and Republic Day in a formal way. Keeping in view the importance of these
days, the Independence Day and Republic Day are being celebrated in the
institute w i t h a f l a g h o i s t i n g c e r e m o n y in a formal way from year 2010
onward in the presence of all faculty, staff and students.
17. Talent Search Programme
The Institute organized Intra Institute Talent Search Cultural Competition in
2011 and 2012. In these functions, the students showed their talent in the
different e v e n ts . The programs were well organized and the students took part
with great enthusiasm. Besides, like every year, Akhand Path and Jagran were
also c e l e brated in the Institute for the progress, peace and prosperity of the
Institute. Baba Vishavkarma day is also celebrated in the College workshop.
18. Co-operation to Local and District Administration
The Institute provides every type of co-operation and assistance to the Local
and District Administration from time to time during the visits of VVIPs,
Censes Operation, Elections etc. Assistance is also provided to the institutes
opened by the Govt. of Punjab such as: Construction Skill Training Institute at
Abul Khurana, in collaboration with Larson and Turbo and Automotive and
Driving Institute in collaboration with Tata Motors at Village Mahuana (Muktsar).
19. Tree Plantations and Cleanliness Camps
To keep the environment green and clean, the NSS wing of the Institute
organized three tree plantation camps in newly constructed building and prefabricated
building of the Institute in which more than 1000 trees were planted.
One more tree plantation camp was organized in the new building of the Institute
on 20.3.2012 in which 200 trees were planted. For the cleanliness of the campus,
the NSS wing of the institute arranged a cleanliness camp in the above said
buildings and CRC Park. About 400 students participated in this noble cause.
20. Repair of the Hostels
Presently, the Institute has two hostel one each for Boys and Girls with the
capacity of 120 and 60 students respectively. Due to shortage of hostels, many
students are not being provided hostel facility in the Institute campus thus
causing affect to the admissions. Out of the two existing hostels, the
renovation/repair of one hostel has been made and another hostel will be got
repaired/renovated in the summer vacations in June, 2012.

21. CRC Park's Fountain Made Operational
The Institute has its own CRC (Community Recreational Club) park adjoining to
main building which was purchased by the Institute from PUDA. This park is
opened for the general public of the city in the morning and evening. Fountain
of this park was not working from last many years. Now, this fountain has been
re-started after its repair/renovation. Consequently, the arrival of the public in
this park has been increased about four times.
22. Development of a Park for Society Accommodation
Presently, about 22 faculty and staff members along with their family are
residing in the Society Accommodation in the Campus. There was no park for the
faculty, staff and their children in the residential complex. In the year 2010, a
park for children was developed in the residential area with modern facilities
and playing infrastructure for the entertainment of the resident children.
23. Increased the Bandwidth of Internet Leased Line Connectivity
Earlier, the Institute was having 6 mbps leased line in campus and the
availability of the internet facility was limited only up to the computer labs
and offices of faculty/staff members. Keeping in view strength & interest of the
students, the leased line has been increased to 18 mbps. The Wi-fi is accessible in
all places of the campus and now the students can avail the internet facility even in
the hostels and anywhere in the campus.
24. Celebrated International Women Day and National Technology Day
International Women Day was celebrated by the Institute for the 1 st time since
its inception. Dr. S.C. Sharma was invited to deliver a lecture to faculty,
staff and students on the importance of this day. National Technology Day
was sponsored by department of Science and Technology with a grant. Dr.
Prithpal Singh, Founder Principal of MIMIT was the special invitee on this
occasion.
25. Institute's Magazines and Souvenirs
For the 1 st time, Institute's Magazine was printed in the year 2003. After a gap
of 7 years, the Institute again published MIMITIAN 2010 and MIMITIAN 2011.
MIMITIAN 2012 is under process in which the faculty, staff and students
expressed their views. As such, first time, the Institute also published Souvenir
2010, Souvenir 2011 and Souvenir 2012. The copy of the Magazines was
distributed to all students of the Institute and the copy of Souvenir was given
to all passing out students.

26. Blood Donation Camp
For the 1 st time, a Blood Donation Camp was organized in the Institute in
association with NSS and District Hospital Muktsar on 15.2.2012. Faculty, Staff
& Students participated in the camp and 150 units of Blood were donated. Dr.
Gurdip Singh, Civil Surgeon, Muktsar inaugurated the camp.
27. Financial Position and Audit Status
Financial position of the institution has improved by filling of maximum number of
seats and reducing dropout rate of students. Audit Status of the institution is up-todate.
No major observation is pointed out by the AG department. The audit report is
considerably good. All the financial reports including Balance Sheet and Audit Report
have been reported to the Finance Committee.
28. AICTE Workshop
Attended one day AICTE Workshop on, “National Vocational Education
Qualification Framework in Punjab,” on 21 st April 2012 in SLIET Lonogowal. The
Chairman AICTE presented the NVEQF in Punjab. Sh Ashok Thakur, IAS, Secretary
Technical Education, MHRD, Govt of India was the Chief Guest.
29. Good Governance
Good governance is on the active agenda. Seven point agenda was given to faculty,
staff and students namely; Discipline amongst faculty, staff and students, academic
environment, improvement in technical teaching learning process, placements,
development of need based infrastructure, human resource development and
accreditation of institute from NBA. All faculty, staff and student are working on
these agenda to the full of their potential and efficacy.
30. Placement of Faculty and Staff and their Regularization
Faculty and staff strength was less than 20%. Some faculty and staff have been
appointed and some have been placed under CAS. The services of 11 faculty and staff
have been regularized to make the strength of the faculty and staff considerably good.
In addition to this, improvement in discipline, academic environment, technical
teaching learning process, regularization of faculty and staff, need based infrastructure
development, human recourses development, optimization utilization of available
human recourses and good governance are also notable achievements/performances as
Principal in association with all faculty, staff and 1400 students for development of
corporate life at all levels in the institute.
