How to use the Group Record Sheet<br />

Go through each Pupil Booklet, transferr<strong>in</strong>g the scor<strong>in</strong>g marks<br />

under the appropriate question number situated at the top of<br />

the sheet.<br />

Enter the total score for the exercise here, and at the end of the<br />

exercises for the short or the long form of the test, enter the<br />

total score <strong>in</strong> the total raw score (RS) column.<br />

For each question, add up the number of pupils who have got<br />

this item correct and enter this number <strong>in</strong> the ‘Total marks’ box<br />

situated at the bottom of the question number column.<br />

Divide each question total by the total number of pupils <strong>in</strong> the<br />

group, express<strong>in</strong>g the results as a percentage. Enter these<br />

figures <strong>in</strong> the row labelled ‘Group percentage correct’. To<br />

calculate this figure for items <strong>in</strong> Exercises 3x and 4x where<br />

more than one mark is available, divide the total number of<br />

marks by the maximum number of marks available and then by<br />

the number of pupils <strong>in</strong> the group, e.g. for a two-mark item<br />

(Total÷2÷N×100).<br />

Compare your ‘Group percentage correct’ figures with the<br />

standardisation sample percentage correct figure for each item.<br />

You can also look at the results qualitatively by analys<strong>in</strong>g the<br />

type of error made by the pupil. You can do this by referr<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

the ‘process categories’ (see the Teacher’s Guide page 26).<br />

<strong>in</strong> the shaded column, us<strong>in</strong>g the total scores for each exercise.<br />

The comparison between your group/class and the<br />

standardisation sample for each exercise <strong>in</strong> the short form of<br />

the test can also be represented visually by us<strong>in</strong>g these four<br />

charts. The standardisation sample has already been entered:<br />
