MYERS ANCHORING THE OFFENSIVE LINE<br />

C Chris Myers has been a mainstay on the Texans offensive<br />

line since joining the team via trade from Denver<br />

in 2008. Myers earned his first Pro Bowl selection following<br />

the 2011 season and helped the Texans set a team<br />

record and rank second in the NFL with 153.0 rushing<br />

yards per game. He was selected again for NFL’s all-star<br />

game in 2012 after helping direct the NFL’s seventhranked<br />

offense (372.1 yards per game).<br />

Myers has started 80 consecutive games at center for the Texans and<br />

has started 96 consecutive games going back to his days in Denver. The<br />

Texans have finished in the League’s top four in total offense in three of<br />

his first four years with the team: third in 2008 (382.1 yards per game);<br />

fourth in 2009 (383.1); and third in 2010 (386.6 yards per game).<br />

MARTIN YIELDS HIGH RETURNS<br />

The explosive play that Texans rookie WR Keshawn<br />

Martin displayed at Michigan State showed up at Reliant<br />

Stadium in Week 11 vs. Jacksonville. Houston’s fourthround<br />

pick posted the most combined return yards of<br />

any player in the NFL in 2012 with 238.<br />

Martin ran a fourth-quarter punt back 71 yards and had<br />

the Texans’ longest kickoff return of the season, for 54<br />

yards in the second quarter.<br />

Martin also made his first career start against Jacksonville and caught<br />

his first NFL touchdown pass, a 9-yard strike from QB Matt Schaub on<br />

Houston’s opening drive.<br />

Martin led the Texans and ranked fifth in the NFL with a franchise-record<br />

12.1 punt return average and a posted a 23.9 kickoff return average after<br />

taking over return duties in Week 6 against Green Bay.<br />

ONE OF THE AFC’S SPECIAL PLAYERS<br />

OLB Bryan Braman led the Texans and was fifth in the<br />

AFC with 16 special teams tackles despite missing two<br />

games in 2012. A Pro Bowl alternate, Braman was named<br />

to the USA Today All-Joe Team following the season.<br />

In Week 6 against Green Bay, Braman recorded three<br />

special teams tackles and blocked a punt in the fourth<br />

quarter that was recovered for a touchdown. It was the<br />

first blocked punt by a Texan since Jan. 1, 2006, and the<br />

first punt block recovered for a touchdown since Dec. 22, 2002.<br />

Braman blocked his second punt of the season in Week 15 against<br />

Indianapolis. This time, Braman recovered his own blocked kick and returned<br />

it 8 yards for a touchdown.<br />

CUSHING LANDS ON IR WITH TORN ACL<br />

Two-time captain and 2011 Team MVP ILB Brian Cushing<br />

suffered a torn ACL in Week 5 at the New York Jets,<br />

ending what looked to be another promising season.<br />

Through the first five games of 2012, Cushing led the<br />

Texans with 43 tackles and had a forced fumble and an<br />

interception.<br />

He posted a season-high 13 tackles against Tennessee<br />

in Week 4. He had five tackles in less than two quarters<br />

of play when he went down against New York.<br />
