Sapphire Coast Trip
21st – 29th April, 2012 (inclusive)
DAY ONE - SATURDAY 21ST.
Fly to (YGRL) Lakes Entrance. Arrive at Great Lakes
Aerodrome and make your way to Number One The
Esplanade, your home for the next three nights.
We all meet for Happy Hour then enjoy a nice 2
course dinner whilst enjoying the views of the
Cunningham Arm.
DAY FOUR - TUESDAY 24th
DAY TWO - SUNDAY 22nd
Breakfast then a Free Day in Lakes Entrance, visiting
the surf beach, stroll the Esplanade or taking a walk
out to the Entrance. Church Service times available
at Reception. Treat yourself to fish and chips at the
old Ferry or sit on the grass and eat them out of the
paper as we used to do. Dinner tonight is at one of
the local restaurants. (Dinner at own cost)
Breakfast at the motel, then make our way to the
airfield to fly to Traralgon (Latrobe Valley Airfield)
before travelling by coach to Thompson Station
where we board the train to travel in style to
Walhalla Station. Train will depart @ 11.40am and
arrives at Walhalla @ 12.15pm where we are then
picked up by Coach and taken into Walhalla.
Lunch is at the Walhalla Star Hotel for gourmet pies
and salad. Then we step back in time as we visit the
beautiful township of Walhalla before meeting for
Happy Hour then to enjoy a three course Dinner at
Parkers Restaurant. Accommodation is at the Star
Hotel and Valhalla House.
DAY THREE - MONDAY 23rd
Today we board the coach after we have enjoyed a
nice cooked breakfast. Today we travel east along
the Princes Highway to Marlo via Orbost.
Cruise down the Snowy River on the Paddle Steamer
Curlip 2 then lunch at the Marlo Pub.
Departing Marlo we will have a wine tasting at the
award winning Nicholson Winery before returning to
Lakes Entrance for dinner at the Ferryman Floating
Restaurant. (Dinner at own cost)
DAY FIVE - WEDNESDAY 25th (Anzac Day).
The early birds can join the Dawn Anzac Service in
Walhalla. After a continental breakfast at the Star
Hotel we return by Coach to Traralgon and time
permitting and subject to approval as it is Anzac
Day, visit Gipps Aero for a tour of the home of the
GA8 Airvan that is made locally. Travel to Traralgon
Airfield before flying to Mallacoota.

DAY SIX – THURSDAY 26TH
The time in Mallacoota is free time.
Available activities are: Golfing, Fishing, Visit World
War II Museum Bunker and Lake Trip on the motor
vessel Lockhard. You are invited to evening drinks
and seafood at the Russell home, 34 Brady Street,
Mallacoota.
DAY SEVEN – FRIDAY 27th
the estate which includes the Hotel’s own private
beach. After lunch we continue onto the Killer
Whale Museum in Eden. Here we will be treated to
a guided tour which will take us through the
exhibitions and local history of the museum which
has been established for over 80 years.
The afternoon takes us to Pambula where we will
have afternoon tea at the famous Oaklands Nursery.
This place is a favourite among tourists and locals
for not only its delicious food and coffee but the
vast array of plants, antiques and collectables on
offer as well as art and other knick knacks.
Afterwards we board the coach for our return
journey, arriving back at the accommodation in the
late afternoon. All entry fees and tour guiding
included. Dinner will be own responsibility.
DAY NINE – SUNDAY 29th.
Picked up by coach and taken to the Merimbula
Airport for departure.
Fly to Merimbula. Picked up at Merimbula Airport
and taken to Merimbula’s Coast Resort – one
bedroom pool view apartments. Rest of day free.

DAY EIGHT – SATURDAY 28th
We will be picked up from the resort at 9.00am and
depart Merimbula bright and early where we will
head for the Eden Chip Mill, located in Twofold Bay.
This mill was Australia’s first mill and today we
enjoy a tour of the site which involves the reasons
why the mill is so important to our economy and the
history surrounding it. We will also enjoy morning
tea before departing the chip mill. Our journey
continues to the historic Ben Boyd Tower which was
built in 1847. Originally designed as a lighthouse,
this tower overlooks magnificent views of the bay
and beyond. Enjoy some leisure time and soak up
the relaxing atmosphere.
Lunch will be served at the Seahorse Inn which is a
luxurious boutique Hotel located on Twofold Bay.
Enjoy an array of local produce including seafood
before relaxing with a drink or taking a stroll around
