Miss Catholic High &
May Crowning
As is tradition, Catholic High held its annual Miss Catholic High Assembly on April 30, 2012 during which the
Students of the Year and Miss Catholic High were announced.
Miss Catholic High exhibits academic excellence, responsible leadership, and Christian community service
consistently over her four years at Catholic High. Each month during the school year, a Student of the Month
is chosen from each class. This person demonstrates exemplary leadership qualities and actively takes part in
school events. All Students of the Month are eligible for Students of the Year, and senior Students of the Month
are eligible to become Miss Catholic High.
“When so many capable young women are candidates for their classes, it makes the choices difficult for the
selection committees. This is very good because it proves just how wonderful our students are,” said Ms. Pat
Greely, English Department Chair and part of the selection committee.
Miss Catholic High, 2012 is Emma Dohmeier; Junior of the Year is Megan Lynch; Sophomore of the Year is
Rebecca Miller; and Freshman of the Year is Cassandra Kopasek.
As Miss Catholic High, 2012, Emma Dohmeier had the esteemed honor of crowning the Blessed Virgin Mary
during the annual May Crowning on May 2, 2012 in the Sr. Francis Marie Yocum, OSF Auditorium. The
Students of the Year accompanied Emma on stage and provided support as Emma fulfilled a very meaningful,
religious tradition.
“It was an honor to have been a part of this ceremony to honor Mary, and I’m excited to see who will crown
Mary next year,” said Junior of the Year, Megan Lynch.
