Ensuring that capabilities are in place to respond to any NNSA and DOE facility<br />

emergency. It is also the nation's premier responder to any nuclear or radiological<br />

incident within the United States (U.S.) or abroad and provides operational planning<br />

and training to counter both domestic and international nuclear terrorism.<br />

Program elements include the following:<br />

• Continuity Program<br />

Managing and securing the nation’s nuclear weapons, nuclear non-proliferation, and<br />

naval reactor programs. It also responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the<br />

U.S. and abroad. Additionally, NNSA federal agents provide safe and secure<br />

transportation of nuclear weapons and components and special nuclear materials along<br />

with other missions supporting the national security.<br />

Investing in the transformation of the nuclear weapons complex into the nuclear<br />

security enterprise needed to meet future stockpile needs.<br />
