Year 9 & 10 Netballers playing with the BIG TIME!

In Term 3 our Year 9 and 10 Netballers
started playing in the Knox Midweek
Competition every Wednesday. The
competition is tough and challenging and
our players need to use their court smarts
against experienced and considerably older
players. We have had some great wins,
some tight matches and few loses throughout
the fixture so far. As a development
program our teams are ineligible for finals,
however this has offered us the opportunity
to try out many combinations and maximise
court time for all.
As an added bonus the players have had
the opportunity to play alongside ANZ
Championship players Kara Richards
(defender Adelaide Thunderbirds 2011) and
Ashlee Howard (goaler West Coast Fever
2011). This experience has demonstrated to
many of the players the intensity at which
you must work to play at your best across a
whole game. Their leadership and coaching
on court adds another dimension to court
application of skills learnt in training. As we
progress through the fixture a number of
players from Netball Victoria Elite programs
will be invited to play alongside our
netballers.
