FLOATER FISHING
SITTING behind rods baited with boilies is
a mug’s game when temperatures rise
and carp can be seen actively cruising
and basking in the upper layers. Only a tiny
minority of carpers choose to fish surface
baits, yet it is the most exciting tactic of
all – watching carp approach and engulf a
hook bait. From March through to October
opportunities to catch surface feeders
arise on most venues, and with just a few
accessories and a bag of floating pellets
you are prepared enough to catch even
difficult carp when they show themselves
on top.

METHODS OF ATTACHING FLOATERS
Use a 1.5mm Nut/Pellet Drill to bore a small
hole through floating pellets or mixers and simply
mount one or two on a hair rig.
Floating pellets and mixers can be glued straight
to the hook. Create a groove in the bait with the
side of a Diamond Hook File.
The finished glued bait should look like this.

Fox Bait Bands are ideal for mounting floating
baits close to the hook shank. Stretch it around
the bait and pierce the tag with the hook.
Fill the groove with Knot-Lok Rig Glue and set the
hook into it. Hold the hook still in this position for
a few seconds until the glue is dry.
For a presentation that will withstand nuisance
fish and big casts tightly wrap the bait in Arma-
Mesh. Pass the hook through the knot and secure
into position with a small piece of 0.5mm Silicone.
