Hon. Maureen Lally-Green will retire from <strong>the</strong><br />

state Superior Court on July 31 and join <strong>the</strong><br />

Diocese <strong>of</strong> Pittsbugh pastoral administration<br />

as director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office for Church<br />

Relations. She will represent <strong>the</strong> diocese to<br />

civic, charitable, service and community<br />

organizations throughout <strong>the</strong> region, working<br />

with various diocesan administrative <strong>of</strong>fices to<br />

advance <strong>the</strong> mission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Church.<br />

Judge Lally-Green was appointed to <strong>the</strong><br />

Superior Court in 1998 and elected to a full<br />

ten-year term in 1999. Prior to that she was an<br />

associate with a private law firm in Pittsburgh,<br />

counsel to <strong>the</strong> Commodity Futures Trading<br />

Commission in Washington, D.C., counsel<br />

to Westinghouse Electric Corp., a research<br />

associate and consultant to justices <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Pennsylvania Supreme Court for 12 years, and<br />

a full pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> law at Duquesne University’s<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Law for 15 years.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Diocese <strong>of</strong> Tulsa, Bishop Edward J<br />

Slattery has named Fa<strong>the</strong>r James Caldwell<br />

<strong>the</strong> new pastor at Saint Joseph Parish in Krebs<br />

and Saint Paul Parish in Eufaula. He continues<br />

as chaplain for <strong>the</strong> Knights <strong>of</strong> Columbus,<br />

Rachel’s Vineyard and Retrouvaille.<br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r Stuart Crevcoure, pastor <strong>of</strong><br />

Saint John <strong>the</strong> Evangelist University Parish in<br />

Stillwater and chaplain <strong>of</strong> Oklahoma State<br />

University’s Newman Center, wrote on Saint<br />

Paul in <strong>the</strong> September 2009 i ssue <strong>of</strong> Eastern<br />

Oklahoma Catholic, <strong>the</strong> magazine <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Monsignor George R. Coyne <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Diocese <strong>of</strong> Steubenville, and Monsignor<br />

Paul Lenz, C’46, S’49, D’95, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Diocese <strong>of</strong><br />

Altoona-Johnstown, members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Regents, also marked jubilees in 2009.<br />

Monsignor Coyne is celebrating 50 years as<br />

a priest, while Monsignor Lenz is celebrating<br />

60 years <strong>of</strong> priesthood. Monsignor Lenz<br />

retired after 31 years as <strong>the</strong> national director<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Catholic Church’s Black and Indian<br />

Mission Office, Washington, D.C., in 2007. He<br />

is postulator <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cause <strong>of</strong> Blessed Kateri<br />

Tekakwitha.<br />

Also celebrating a jubilee this year was<br />

Bishop J. Kevin Boland <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Diocese <strong>of</strong><br />

Savannah, who marked his golden jubilee <strong>of</strong><br />

priestly odination at Saint Patrick Church in<br />

Cork City, Ireland, July 8, and in <strong>the</strong> diocese<br />

on June 10 at <strong>the</strong> Ca<strong>the</strong>dral <strong>of</strong> Saint John <strong>the</strong><br />

Baptist.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Diocese <strong>of</strong> Youngstown, Bishop<br />

George Murry, S.J., has announced <strong>the</strong><br />

in East Liverpool and Immaculate<br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r Martin Celuch, S’02, was featured<br />

in <strong>the</strong> September 18, 2009 edition <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong><br />

Catholic Exponent, newspaper <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Diocese<br />

<strong>of</strong> Youngstown. Now studying law at Catholic<br />

University <strong>of</strong> America, Washington, D.C.,<br />

he serves as an advocate on <strong>the</strong> Diocesan<br />

Tribunal. A native <strong>of</strong> Sverzov, Slovakia, he<br />

also has a bro<strong>the</strong>r who is a priest studying<br />

for a doctorate in <strong>the</strong>ology in Germany.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Diocese <strong>of</strong> Steubenville, Bishop<br />

R. Daniel Conlon ordained Bradley Greer,<br />

a diocesan seminarian, and Bro<strong>the</strong>r Francis<br />

Dankoski, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Order <strong>of</strong> Sacred and<br />

Immaculate Hearts <strong>of</strong> Jesus and Mary, to <strong>the</strong><br />

priesthood on May 30. <strong>The</strong> ceremony took<br />

place at Holy Name Ca<strong>the</strong>dral, Steubenville.<br />

In an article appearing in <strong>the</strong> Steubenville<br />

Register, Fa<strong>the</strong>r Francis credited his mo<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

Diane, who died in 1999, with leading him to<br />

religious life. Born in Hong Kong, he moved<br />

frequently, but his mo<strong>the</strong>r always “had a<br />

church as home base,” he said.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Archdiocese <strong>of</strong> Atlanta, Archbishop<br />

Wilton Gregory ordained Thang Pham and<br />

Carlos Vargas to <strong>the</strong> transitional diaconate<br />

on Saturday, May 16 at <strong>the</strong> Ca<strong>the</strong>dral <strong>of</strong><br />

Christ <strong>the</strong> King. <strong>The</strong> Ca<strong>the</strong>dral was also <strong>the</strong><br />

setting for <strong>the</strong> June 27 priesthood ordinations<br />

<strong>of</strong> Salomon Garcia-Cortes and Dominic Tran.<br />
