Another year has passed and while I’m writing this, it is cold and
dark here in Finland and the Spring is still weeks away. These are the
moments you feel good to just stop for awhile and think the purpose
of your own doing. You know what I mean? You could say I’m getting
sensitive here, but I would use the word humble instead. Humble for
all the effort, help, support and advising I’ve been privileged to get
from the people surrounding me trough this 15 year path of Vision
products. It is not me why we are where we are now.
That’s why I would like to take the opportunity
to thank some of the fellows who have been here
to offer their hand, right from the start. So, Uwe
Rieder, Christof Menz, Mika Vainio, Monte Warde,
Niklaus Bauer and Stieg M. Hansen. I would like
to thank you all, as well as the whole Vision world
team for this amazing trip of Vision products.
We called last year Vision’s REEL YEAR.
Why? We launched a couple of amazing
new models and expanded the range of
existing models that gives us real ground
to build on. That is not all though. Behind
the scenes we felt that Vision’s REEL YEAR
is a reel year because we spend a lot of time
developing some totally new innovations
in fly reels. After a page or two, you will
understand why we could call this year reel
year number two.

varioverse
Many may think this innovation is so out of the world that it can’t even
be true. Well, it is. We joined forces with Georgi and Stefan Chivarov,
designers of the patented (EP 1993353) and genius Varioverse
mechanism. It is the ultimate answer for a hard core fly reel. It has
not only a big functional advantage over Anti-Reverse reels but is a
giant step ahead of Direct-Drive reels.
With a HDC reel you don’t have the hassle of fiddling with small
drag adjustment knobs during the fight while trying to remember
drag tightening directions and drag adjustment levels. You don’t
have to be aware of the fast back-spinning handle. Once you hook
a fish, simply follow your reflex and reel in. The drag will increase
instantly and automatically against the fish pull. The only thing you
have to take care of before you start fishing is adjusting the upper
limit of fighting brake according to your tippet. Once you reach this
limit, a slip of the spool starts automatically keeping your drag at the
maximum, no matter whether you carry on reeling or not.
HDC stands for Handle Drag Control meaning that by reeling in or
by turning the handle backwards you can instantly vary the drag
according to your fighting tactics. For preparing your next cast, turn
the handle back until it stops to instantly provide a comfortable
stripping drag level without spool overrun. Clever.
As a unique piece of engineering art the HDC reel has other benefits
too. Even high-end Direct Drive reels can hardly compete with
HDC in terms of lightness, minimum number of parts, no-tool
disassembling and simple maintenance. It has a strong and great
looking two tone hard anodizing. The disc brake consists of massive
carbon fiber & stainless steel plates and all bearings and springs are
from Japan and Europe. The HDC is available in three sizes; 7-9, 9-11
and 11-13. For more information visit www.varioverse.com.
Who says an ultra light reel cannot be durable and stable? CDC
is as light as a feather even with a full rim and mid-arbour design.
The super smooth cork brake allows you to adjust it so silkily
that you can play with even the thinnest tippets. The drag
adjustment is on the handle side. The mid-arbour spool gives
you extra line capacity. CDC is the reel for hard-core trout fisherman.
It seems like these twins have been here forever. And it feels
like there is another one still to come. If you are looking for
things like reliability, line capacity, and disc brake materials to
fit your reel size, you came to the right page. High gloss super
hard anodizing makes it look good and last long, custom made
bearings give the smoothness. Were those in your list, too?
XLB has more heavy duty construction than XLA. It makes it
a very stable reel. The smaller reels have a fine brake system
while the bigger ones offer you brutal stopping power. These
reels are perfect for saltwater and salmon fishing.
koma kassette
An ambitious innovation that has really paid
off. Using a fly reel and changing your lines
couldn’t be easier. The salmon size is made
with same outer design as our XLA 11. The
Koma Kassette includes three cassettes and
a fabric pouch. They have extremely reliable
easy spool locking and a smooth disc drag.
the feedback you all gave us regarding upgrading the materials
and the shape, making the reels lighter. It was definitely
worth doing. The brake works softly, silently and surely. What
more you can ask from a reel? Sizes 6/7, 7/9 and 11 are also
available in high gloss black. SPECS PAGE 15
It is always nice to write about our
rods. It´s always nice to develop them,
talk about them and, of course, cast
and fish with them. It is the gear that
gives you real sensation while fishing.
That’s why we take it seriously. Our
aim is to make rods that make you
smile, from your very first touch right
until you pack them into your car boot
after a successful day. Our range gets
bigger every year, so check out the
new Cult double hand and Cult Fiber
rods and don’t forget our new models
of the GTfour and Nite Catapult.
cult
These 3- and 4- piece rods are a blast from the past.
Their deep, medium fast action is really made for
fishing, not just casting as far as possible. The nonsanded
blanks in racing maroon colour, cork reel seat
inserts and special shaped cork handles invite you to
cult c u l t
cult_dh
Oh yes. They are here. Fishermen all over Europe
enjoyed our Cult singles last season, and now we are
ready to widen our horizons. A rod doesn’t always
necessarily have to be stiff. The Cult ideology is to make
fishing and casting easy and the same goes for these
double hand rods. When the rod bends you don’t have
to work so much and take care to ensure perfect, tip top
timing. You can concentrate on fishing instead.
Cult double hand rods have a moderate fast, deep
and powerful full flex action. So even they feel softer
than our other DH rods and cast far afield, even with
huge flies. Casting just feels different, easier. These
rods perform extremely well with both Spey lines and
shooting- or skagit- heads. The rods are marked with
join the cult. We made two new models for this series.
When the fish are feeding carefully, grab one of these
4- piece, 8’ #4 or 9’ #4 and join the cult.
They are back! Modern fiberglass rods are not like their
predecessors. These are light and responsive and yes,
you can really fish with them. They even cast far! Cult
Fibers have deep, soft action but they still have loads
of hidden power. We designed these for traditional
lightweight river fishing with models 5’9” #3-4 and
6’6” #4-5. For bigger rivers and flies we have the 7’6”
#5-6 rod and for those who want to break rules we have
a 7’6” #7-8 version. The #7-8 is a great rod for smaller
salmon rivers and even for pike fishing.
Powerful and fast action. No weather, type of line
or fly is too rough for this heavy-duty rod. Pick the
widest salmon river from the coastline of Norway. Grab
this rod and the wide river will start to look like a tiny
creek. That’s how far you’ll cast with it. No wonder it
was “best in test” by Trout & Salmon magazine. These
great casting machines have a new, shorter and lighter
version. The 11’6” #7 Switch style rod is the ideal choice
for smaller rivers and coastal fishing.
attack_dh
A double handed tool to start with. A medium fast action similar
to its single-handed version. It comes with the same durable and
forgiving action in the salmon class. It really helps you to learn
how to cast without ripping your arms off or asking for an over
weighted line.
attack
These rods are the perfect choice for your first rod, or if you just
want to increase your arsenal to suit different kinds of fishing
with just a small financial outlay. The T-24 carbon allows the rod
to bend from the butt, so small timing errors in your cast will
have no effect. This rod helps you to improve your casting and
you can still feel it responding well after many years.
attack_set
This kit makes an immediate impact. While others are wondering
what the correct line for their rod is, you will be already casting
with your line in the air. Everything is set up for you in a specially
designed tube-reel cover combo. Just assemble your rod, pull
out the leader and fish!
Modern flylines are changing. More
and more fishermen pay close
attention to the line they use. As the
AFTM standard gives the weight for
the first 9.15 meters only, it’s not the
best for describing modern fly lines
and their complex heads. Today’s
fly lines, in most cases, have heads
longer than 9.15 meters.
So it is very difficult to compare
different lines even if they are
marked to be the same line weight by
the AFTM standard. Nowadays WF
lines are designed to be cast with the
whole head out and the only clear
and easy way to tell the difference
between various lines in this case
is to give the length and the weight
of the whole head. So we got Vibes
about this…
New super coating – with Teflon ® !
Our new Vibe lines have a long lasting slick and supple coating which remains
memory free even in cold conditions. The slickness is achieved by adding
Teflon ® particles to the coating and this way the slickness doesn’t wear off
either. The low stretch core helps you to feel the takes and it also transfers
casting energy far more efficiently than traditional cores.
v i b e vibe
v i b e vibe
The Vibes are totally new way to choose
and use a fly line. They are marked with
actual head weights and lengths and
we have given our suggestion in which
lineweight rod they perform best.
Vibe 85 has an 8.5 meter long head. The head’s weight is clearly marked
in grams and grains for easy comparison and they have also suggestion for
ideal rod rating. The 85 is heavier compared to AFTM standard. Therefore,
for example line which is suggested for rods 5–6, performs well in stiffer
and more powerful #5 weight rods or softer #6 weight rods. Vibe 85 is at
its best in places with limited casting space and performs extremely well
with switch and spey style casts. It has a slick and supple coating which
remains memory free even in cold conditions. The aggressive front taper
turns even heavier weighted nymphs over with ease. The readymade loop
makes it easy to attach the leader.
Vibe 125 has a 12.5 meter long head and is therefore a great all-round
flyline. It also has head weights marked in grams and grains like the Vibe
85 but because the same weight is distributed into longer length, it makes
this line to feel slightly lighter compared to Vibe 85. Vibe 125 is closer
to the AFTM standard too. With Vibe 125 we suggest you to choose, for
example, 5–6 line on #5 weight rods and 6–7 line on #6 weight rods.
Vibe 125 is easy to roll- and spey cast and is a very long casting line with
overhead casts. The readymade loop makes it easy to attach the leader.
Available in floating for rods 4 – 10 and 3meter int. tip, SloMo head and
Sink 4 head for rods 5–10.
Cult DT and WF lines follow AFTM weights exactly. So if
they feel too light it’s your previous rod or previous line that
presentation. These lines have classic WF and DT profiles.
DDT 4-7 / Double Double Taper
This special double taper line has different taper profiles on
For long distance casts where ultimate line control is needed
the DDT performs brilliantly with a shorter taper in front, you
easier to use, spey line. Slide Spey has
three basic head lengths, 13.5 / 15.0
These head lengths are easy to handle
even if you are not very familiar with
spey lines. They give you good fishing
distances easily. The Slide Spey’s taper
is designed to turn real fishing flies or
it to the running line. For those who need faster than sink 3 tips we
also offer separate, sink 5 and sink 8 tips. These tips have the same
weights and lengths as the package tips, offering hinge free casting.
Ace tip lines perform very well with Skagit style casts too. The Ace
standard Ace lengths, weights and profile. The kit includes a mesh
wallet for tips.
ace 2 running lines
A new set of running lines to cover all your needs. These were
designed with different fishing situations in mind and therefore they
have characteristics that are a little bit different. The floating models,
which are mostly used for salmon and seatrout fishing, have more
stretch than the SloMo and Sinking versions. You don’t want to have
a non stretch running line between you and a record size salmon on
a fast flowing river, whereas you’ll love the non stretch core on SloMo
and Sinking when you are hooking monster pike at the sea. These
running lines don’t have any memory whatsoever so there’s no need
to stretch them before use. We have a ready-made loop at one end
for smooth and easy attaching to your shooting head. The SloMo
version has a very slow, 0.5” per second, sinking rate making it ideal
for coastal fishing.
nano mono
When a tippet material has been around for
years, it is a mark of quality. There is no fly
fisherman who will use tippets that fail. We
all have favourites. Some look for maximum
strength and others look for presentation or
easy knot tying. The Extreme tippet’s popularity
comes from combining all these qualities.
tippets t i p p e t s
This is a brand new innovation in
monofilament tippets and leaders. It
is really something new and different
from our famous Extreme tippet. If
you like soft and strong line, the Nano
Mono is your choice. It has extremely
high knot strength and it is totally
memory free. It has more stretch than
our Extreme tippet making it act like
a shock tippet, simply helping you to
land more trophy size fish.
The three thickest diameters have
30 metres in spool while the others
have 50 metres in spool. Spools click
together and rotate separately, so you
can easily collect the whole series! The
neoprene band with detailed printing
secures the line on spool and keeps
harmful UV - rays away. Available in
8X – 0.52mm.
VEFT7-47 Fluorocarbon 25 Clear
VWL15-35 Wireline 15, 20 or 35lb 6 Light grey
Our tippet spools for Extreme, Fluorocarbon and Wireline have a
unique fixation system. These patented spools also have a practical
rubber band to prevent line tangles. It is easy to read which line size
the spools contain and equally easy to rotate them smoothly even
when several spools are attached to each other.
The benefits of Vision Fluorocarbon are invisibility in water and higher
weight. It sinks faster than standard monofilament, and is ideal
with wet flies. Use it while fishing with dry flies to break the surface
tension, to present flies more naturally and to reduce any glare that
fish might see.
fly swivel
If you have ever fished for pike with a fly you will definitely have had
thoughts on how to connect your fly to the wire leader easily. This is the
easy and secure option. Attach one of these at the end of your wire and
you can change your fly quickly without having to cut the wire. This is
light enough so it doesn’t disturb your fly’s movement and the barrel at
the end prevents most of the line twist which is often caused by these
bird size pike flies. The package contains 10 swivels. VFS
tippet rings
Tippet rings make leader making easier and faster. Tie the end of
your leader onto one of these and then tie your tippet length to
the ring. They are also great for tying droppers to leader or when
you want to attach fluorocarbon to monofilament. They weigh almost
nothing, so they do not affect turnover or the leaders floating/sinking
properties. Our tippet rings are also available in bigger
sizes with 20 kilo breaking strength. You may now enjoy these
in salmon and pike fishing too. 10pcs/bag. VTR / VTRM
Vision leaders have an ideal balance
ratio between stiffness and flexibility.
We have a wide range of leaders, which
offer perfect performance in different
fishing waters. Our Salmon leaders fit
the Ace shooting heads nicely and the
Fluorocarbon leaders have become
a must for the most critical trout
anglers.
braided connector loops
For easy connection of fly line and leader we
offer custom made braided loops. The stronger
40lb. versions can also be used to connect
shooting heads. Vision loops have a fine braid
for durability and best fit. For a perfect fit they
come with two different ID sleeves. To ensure
strength a drop of superglue is recommended.
Even though Elvis has left the building the king is not dead.
After remarkable 15 year history our highest selling waders,
the Extreme and Flywater have moved on. In the past 15 years
we have built a solid ground for the development of a new era
of waders. Times change and we try to do our best to be part
of this journey. The Ikon is born. Gillies and Radipors wish
you a long life.
technology
4/6 LAYER NoSeam leg cut
Superior fabric technologies
- F4, F3.5 and F3
Vision F-series fabrics are a new generation of moisturepermeable
and waterproof fabrics that have innovative
features using micro fibre technology and high-density
fabric weaving technology.
We take this seriously. Look at our hang tags and stickers
on our garments. We tell the truth. There have long been
too many myths surrounding breathability. If you have tried
several types of garments you know that the myth and the
reality do not always match.
Waterproof zipper - Riri Storm
The Radipor and Ikon Zip waders have a waterproof Storm
front zipper for ultimate comfort. This makes getting in and
out of the wader much easier as well as being handy when
nature calls! They are guaranteed to be waterproof and
made in Switzerland by RIRI ® .
All our waders have our developed NoSeam leg cut that
totally eliminates critical vertical seams in the lower leg part.
This cut also keeps most of the loose fabric outside the leg
instead of having it inside which makes these waders twice
as hardwearing.
How to choose the correct size
It is important to have the right size of waders to get their
maximum performance. For example, if your waders are too
small it will stress the seams too much and create a great
risk of leakage. The first step in choosing is to find out your
type of waders.
We have grouped them for Standard, King, Long and Short
sizes. If you are of average build, start with Standard sizes.
For slimmer and taller builds try Long and for heavier builds
use King sizes.
There are three basic rules to follow with wading
shoes. First, make sure they fit well. Too tight
or loose will kill your waders and stress your
feet. Secondly, make sure that they are strong.
Seams look nice but they are the weakest point
of the shoe. Thirdly and last, your sole has to
have grip. If it is felt, fine. If it is black rubber
even better, but make sure it is the right rubber.
Vision has made wading shoes for over 15 years.
AMPHIBIA
®
mako
Stealth Amphibia ®
Stealth Amphibia ® replaces and improves upon recent
rubber and felt sole technology. Amphibia’s high friction
properties outperform other sole materials with significantly
better traction on wet rocks, slippery mud and moss, and on
hidden algae-covered rocks. Stealth Amphibia ® rubber also
provides traction on land and in water, giving the freedom
to wear the same pair of boots all day. The rubber provides
the advantage of a quick-cleaning sole from which dirt
easily washes away. This is especially important for river
eco-systems that suffer from fishermen’s felt soles housing
bacteria and spreading it from one stream to the next.
Stealth Amphibia ® rubber also lasts up to 50% longer than
ordinary felt!
Vibram ® IdroGrip rubber sole
Vibram ® is the worldwide leader in high performance
soles. Their new super sticky IdroGrip compound sole
provides the ultimate control in both extreme high and low
temperatures, over terrain burning under the sun or deep
down in the rivers. It is one of the most versatile compounds
to date. Its performance on wet and dry rocks, root filled
trails and steep climbs is simply superb making it ideal for
an all round wading shoe.
Mako features a synthetic upper for abrasion resistance,
stability, light weight and minimal water retention. An
EVA midsole with a plastic support enhances its rigidity.
Hard toe and heel caps give additional support when
wading in extremely tough conditions. A comfortable
neoprene gusseted tongue and ankle keeps the grit and
debris out. Mako is designed with a minimal amount
of seams for longer life. Mako is available with a cool
Superior fabric technologies - F4, F3.5 and F3
Vision F-series fabrics are a new generation
of moisture-permeable and waterproof
fabrics that have innovative features using
micro fibre technology and high-density
fabric weaving technology.
We take this seriously. Look at our hang
tags and stickers on our garments. We tell
the truth. There have long been too many
myths surrounding breathability. If you
have tried several types of garments you
know that the myth and the reality do not
always match.
body-hugging four-way stretch and exceptionally high moisture
a technical item of clothing with a complicated cut.
As standard fleece stretches in only one-way, we cut
it in pieces to position both vertical and horizontal
stretch wherever needed for better fit and function.
Instead of using normal straps that have no thermal
qualities and are bulky under the waders, we made
ours to fit and feel snug while offering the needed
stretch. Keeping wading shoes in mind, we made the
cuffs high and tight. This will prevent bulky ankles
also driving and walking in different
light conditions from dawn till dusk.
Sunaktiv shades are made for wear
24/7. Made in France.
Sunaktiv lens colours
Grey lenses transmit all the colours of the spectrum so there is little distortion. Grey
photochromic gives lenses the best ability to adapt to variable conditions. Unlike yellow
eyewear they work well in darker conditions too. This is why we recommend grey lenses
as our first choice. With a blue mirror finish this lens is at its best on the sunniest days and
for offshore use.
Our Polarflite shades include a wide
collection of frames with active tri-acetate
cellulose lenses. They give 100% protection
from UVA-, UVB- and UVC light. They
effectively block both visible light and the
light reflected from water surface reducing
the aligned, partially polarized glare. They
are finished with hard coat scratch- resistant
surface.
These lenses will not absorb haze and will
stay constant with a low haze value of 0,4%.
A perfect choice for all-round shades. These
standard polarized plastic lenses have all
the optical qualities needed for fishing. They
are also very light. The 2by4 is designed to
be worn with the glasses. Pouch included.
Made in France.
Polarflite lens colours
The lens colour determines how much
light will pass through a lens. To keep
vision optimal you need less light in sunny
conditions and more in cloudy weather.
Yellow lenses actually work as light
enhancers. Good for dusk and low light as
well as for overcast days and evenings.
Brown is a superb all-round constant density
lens. It provides the best combination of
true colour transmission and contrast. The
optimal performance is achieved in medium
bright to bright conditions.
floats better and is easier to use. A universal
powderfloat The very best floatant for
small and medium flies. Prolongs the life of
your flies and removes fish slime and blood.
Powder Float, put them in the box, shake a
couple of times and presto! They are ready
for use again. The double-sided bottle makes
this much easier compared to traditional
bottles. It also has a loop to attach the bottle
to your pin on reel. V0903
used a better floatant! This works like a
miracle. A must among all of our pro guides
worldwide. Nano silicon float is 100% pure
high quality silicon. It is so fine that it is easy
wing & strike When you fish with
longer leaders the strike indicator has to be
able to go through the guides on your rod.
In this case use Wing & Strike. Indicators
made of this special material are absolutely
the best, as they absorb no water at all. It is
simply impossible to get them soaked. As
our material is also relatively stiff it works
perfectly with larger dry fly wings too.
Colours: White, black, fl. green, fl. orange,
brown, pink and yellow. V9496
StrikeRight indicators are 30%
lighter than other foam indicators, so they
float higher and are easier to see and cast.
Because they are aerodynamically shaped at
both ends, they cause less wind resistance
when casting. StrikeRight indicators are easy
to apply and remove, and they are reusable.
Each package includes six pieces.
