We want to be a real partner
for our customers
Multivac worldwide
Spanish subsidiary has
decentralized organization
The Multivac Group strategy includes direct
customer support and service. For this
reason, we decided to establish an
individual sales company just for the
Spanish market to ensure direct contact
with local Multivac customers throughout
Spain. Today the Spanish team offers direct
service without intermediaries in order to
determine customer needs directly and
then develop the optimal packaging
solutions. As always, our goal is to provide
the packaging solution that is as attractive,
efficient and cost-effective as possible.
Multivac Packaging Systems España S.L.
was established in June 2008. ”Before we
started with our commercial activities on
January 1, 2009, a powerful commercial
and service structure was developed so
that we could service the market as
efficiently as possible from the very
beginning,” says Managing Director Emilio
Hernández, looking back.
A fundamental building block for Multivac
Spain is its immediacy to customers. The
Multivac Spain team currently consists of
27 employees who bring together a wide
and valuable spectrum of experience in the
area of packaging. These employees are
distributed over six geographical zones in
the Spanish market. Each of these zones is
supported by at least one technical
specialist and one commercial specialist.
Mr. Hernández emphasizes that ”this
classification according to regional
considerations allows us to offer added
value that none of our competitors on the
Spanish market can: the proximity to our
customers – we are always here if our
customers need us, with no delays.”
Two branch offices were also opened, one
in Pinto (Madrid) and another in Rubí
(Barcelona) to cover the customers’
commercial and technical needs as well as
possible. ”In addition to the commercial and
technical project development, we offer
faultless technical service and a
comprehensive spare parts supply for our
customers”, adds Mr. Hernández.
The team of Multivac Packaging Systems España S.L.
The strategy of Multivac Packaging
Systems España is quite clear: “We want to
be a real partner for our customers – a
partner that provides guidance for
customers with regard to all of their
packaging questions. This allows our
customers to concentrate on manufacturing
and marketing their products as we ensure
they are presented at the point of sale as
attractively as possible.”
Multivac in Bulgaria is a strong local partner
Multivac Bulgaria EOOD started operation
at the beginning of October 2008 in the
capital city of Sofia. The subsidiary has
offices, a show room and storage space for
machine spare parts and consumables
(packaging materials). All of Multivac
Bulgaria’s employees received intensive
training at the parent company in
Wolfertschwenden and are able to serve
the market with a great deal of knowledge
and experience, a leading product portfolio,
original spare parts and quick, efficient
service. The team currently includes seven
employees, including two service
engineers, two customer representatives, a
finance and accounting manager and a sales
assistant. Ivaylo Dimitrov is head of sales.
Although the Bulgarian market has also
been strongly affected by the financial
crisis, Multivac Bulgaria is a strong partner
for its local customers.
High growth for Multivac in South Korea
The Multivac subsidiary in Korea (MUKR)
has been active for over a year. In the Trutec
Building in Seoul, which was built by the
German machinery manufacturer Trumpf in
co-operation with Korean partners, almost a
dozen employees manage Multivac Korea.
Another office in Busan, in the south part of
Korea, is currently being planned. This
region is well known for vigorous fishing
industry, a market segment in which
Multivac has tremendous packaging
expertise. ”Once Multivac has a local
presence, we can react more quickly and
efficiently to market demands,” says
Eckhart Mittmann, sales director for the
Asian market.
The Korean subsidiary sells not only
Multivac products, but also extends its
offering with products by Multivac’s
subsidiary MR Etikettiertechnik as well as
Schroeter (smoking chambers) and Kolbe
(mixers, meat grinders). In the near future,
the product spectrum will be expanded to
include Bizerba products. In order to offer
customers in Korea faultless service,
employees were trained extensively at both
Multivac in Wolfertschwenden and the
partner companies. In addition, the Korean
team has access to a well-stocked, on-site
supply of spare parts, which also makes the
customers happy. A particular strength of
the subsidiary is that Multivac spare parts
and service can be offered in the local
currency, so prices are not subject to
changes in the exchange rate.
At the beginning there were great
challenges to master with regard to the
currency because Korea’s currency, the
won, was subject to strong fluctuations. For
example, in October 2008 1 euro was worth
1,700 won, but in February 2009 it was
already worth 2,000 won. ”The result was
that our machines became 20 percent more
expensive,” says Mr. Mittmann, looking
back. However, for the most part, the
situation has now stabilized. Since the
spring the exchange rate is running about
one to 1,780. ”As a result, the Korean
market has rebounded significantly and
Multivac has quickly filled the order books,”
says Mr. Mittmann, pleased.
For the future, the team is focusing on even
better market penetration, good employee
training and enlisting specialists for the
commercial products listed above.
Ultimately, the team wants to take even
more market share away from the
competition based on our corporate creed:
”Multivac is BETTER PACKAGING.”
