Application<br />

Packaging in bags<br />

The automatic chamber belt machines are designed to process all kinds of sealable pouches.<br />

Shrinkable materials can also be processed safely and reliably.<br />

A servo-controlled transport conveyor loads and unloads the vacuum chamber. For the<br />

decoupling of the loading and packaging procedure, MULTIVAC’s chamber belt machines<br />

can optionally be equipped with a separate infeed conveyor.<br />

MULTIVAC’s proven sealing technology guarantees the safe and secure sealing of the materials<br />

packed. This is specifically achieved by a high sealing pressure and precisely definable sealing<br />

temperatures.<br />

Different sealing and cutting units allow for the production of finished pouches in which<br />

excess pouch material is trimmed along the seal.<br />

MULTIVAC chamber belt machines are designed to meet the highest hygienic standards.<br />

Hygienic design and the use of high-quality materials ensure reliable and fast cleaning. Design<br />

features such as smooth, bevelled surfaces without recesses, corners and edges contribute<br />

The interior of the machine has also been optimised for superior hygiene. Hoses and cables<br />

have been kept to a minimum and are, for the most part, housed inside the machine frame.<br />

Application<br />

Maximum energy efficiency<br />

The components of the MULTIVAC chamber belt machines that are<br />

relevant to energy consumption, such as the drive system for the transport<br />

conveyor and the chamber lid, have been equipped with energyefficient<br />

electric drives. The number of pneumatic systems has been<br />

reduced to the bare minimum.<br />

The similarly consumption-optimised, adjustable cooling water circuit<br />

can be equipped with a water-recooling device as an option.<br />

This will eliminate the need to supply the machine’s cooling system<br />

with fresh water.<br />

Optimised conveyor system<br />

The conveyer belt can be slackened at the push of a button and can<br />

easily be removed for thorough cleaning. An innovative system to<br />

control the belt tension ensures that the transport conveyor always<br />

remains in the optimum position, even during continuous operation.<br />

Powered by a servo motor, the transport conveyor progressively<br />

adjusts the belt speed. This gradual acceleration and deceleration<br />

helps to prevent the packaged products from slipping.<br />

The transport conveyor can be optionally equipped with rolling-stop<br />

bars, which guarantee the reliable packaging of cylindrical products or<br />

products with a small contact area.<br />

For the decoupling of the loading and packaging procedure, the chamber<br />

belt machines B <strong>510</strong> and B <strong>610</strong> can be optionally equipped with a<br />

separate infeed conveyor. This optimises the deployment of personnel<br />

when loading the chamber belt machine.<br />

Reliable sealing systems<br />

The chamber belt machines can be equipped with various MULTIVAC sealing systems,<br />

which ensure that durable seal strength is achieved with various packaging materials.<br />

The chamber belt machines B <strong>510</strong> and B <strong>610</strong> are fitted with water-cooled sealing bars as part<br />

of their standard equipment. These ensure the reliable processing of packaging materials that<br />

require a particularly precise sealing temperature. They simultaneously prevent an increase of<br />

temperature in the sealing bars during continuous operation and the heating up of the housing,<br />

which is particularly undesirable in cooled production environments.<br />

Double-seam sealing 2× 3 mm on top<br />

With two parallel seals, MULTIVAC’s double-seam sealing<br />

guarantees particularly reliable and durable sealing of packaging<br />

materials, even under demanding conditions as well as packaging<br />

with shrink pouches.<br />

Single-seam sealing 1× 5 mm on top<br />

A 5-mm-wide seal, a dimension that is consequently very stable,<br />

is ideal for sealing pouches made of standard materials reliably<br />

and safely.<br />

Single-seam sealing 1× 5 mm top and bottom<br />

Heat is simultaneously applied from above and below the sealing area,<br />

ensuring highly reliable sealing results. This is particularly useful when<br />

using film pouches with high film strength as well as with pouches<br />

of aluminium composite materials.<br />

Advantages<br />

Temperature controlled impulse sealing<br />

Temperature controlled impulse sealing guarantees a consistently high<br />

and reproducible seal quality, even during continuous production at<br />

high cycle rates. Temperature distribution that can be adjusted for the<br />

relevant packaging material, as well as repeat accuracy of approximately<br />

±5° C, make consistently reliable and durable sealing of even more<br />

challenging packaging materials possible. Consequently, temperature<br />

controlled impulse sealing contributes significantly to an increase in<br />

process reliability. This configuration option is available for the B <strong>510</strong><br />

and B <strong>610</strong> chamber belt machines.<br />

Sealing height adjustment<br />

Height-adjustable sealing bars permit the easy adjustment of the sealing bar<br />

height to the goods being packaged. This guarantees perfect evacuation<br />

and sealing results. The available sealing bar heights depend on the<br />

sealing system with which a machine has been equipped. In particular, the<br />

tilting chamber lid of the MULTIVAC chamber belt machines simplifies<br />

the manual and semiautomatic changing process.<br />

Fixed sealing bar height<br />

When this option is chosen, the chamber belt machine is equipped with a<br />

fixed sealing bar height that cannot be changed subsequently. Optionally,<br />

the front and the rear sealing bars can be supplied with different heights.<br />

Manual adjustment of the sealing bar height<br />

The sealing height is adjusted by manually changing the sealing bars.<br />

Semiautomatic adjustment of the sealing bar height<br />

The sealing bar height is set by manually changing the spacers in the<br />

bottom section of the chamber. The corresponding sealing bar height<br />

adjustment in the chamber lid is automatic.<br />

Automatic adjustment of the sealing bar height<br />

The sealing bar height is set on the operating terminal of the machine control<br />

and can be retained in the recipe storage. The upper and lower parts<br />

of the sealing bars are automatically brought into the relevant position.<br />
