LONGEVITY 

AAL manufactures all its 

products to have a life span as 

long as the building or space 

they illuminate. The primary 

material used for all our products 

is aluminum to resist corrosion 

and the need for maintenance. 

Aluminum will not need the 

periodic refinishing required of 

steel products that will eventually 

rust and corrode. All our internal 

parts and fasteners are made 

of aluminum or stainless steel. 

The lamp enclosures are kept 

dust free and dry to prevent light 

degradation and maintain a high 

level of energy efficiency. 

SUSTAINABILITY 

Our products are developed 

with recycling and resource 

management in mind. We 

recycle all incoming packaging 

materials. Our products are 

shipped in easy to recycle 

packaging materials. Our state 

of the art finishing system uses 

eco friendly cleansing and 

preparation chemicals that are 

harmless enough to send to the 

drain without further processing. 

Our powder coating process 

eliminates the release of volatile 

chemicals into the atmosphere. 

AAL makes the Federal 

Globe, like all AAL products, 

with renewable materials such 

as aluminum and stainless steel.

The Federal Globe TM provides highperforming, 

precision optics while maintaining 

the timeless look of a traditional acorn form. 

The Federal Globe features the patented 

Moldcast® ContraCline optical system, which 

provides better night time visibility, low glare 

and uniform illumination. The Federal Globe is 

available in two traditional day forms including 

a flowing decorative leaf design, and a more 

traditional form featuring crisp lines and vertical 

ribs. Available in two sizes, the Federal Globe 

is ideal for multiple mounting heights. This 

stylish, high-performing luminaire features only 

the most efficient lamp sources, including metal 

halide, high-pressure sodium and induction 

lamp systems. The Federal Globe is a unique 

combination of aesthetic design and optical 

performance providing the perfect solution for 

a wide variety of applications.

HOUSING 

FGS 

Decorative, cast aluminum fitter shall support 

the lamp base, reflector assembly and luminaire 

housing. The slip fitter shall slip over a 4”/100mm 

O.D. pole, and secure with four 5/16-18 stainless 

steel set screws. Lamp and ballast compartments 

shall be tool-lessly accessible through a hinged 

capital. The ballast is accessible by lifting ballast 

plate by handle. 

FGL 

Decorative, cast aluminum fitter shall support 

the lamp base, reflector assembly and luminaire 

housing. The slip fitter shall skip over a 5”/127 mm 

O.D. pole for the Large Federal Globe (FGL), and 

secure with four 5/16-18 stainless steel set screws. 

For the Large Federal Globe with the ContraCline 

optics and the SLG globe the housing shall be 

gasketed and secured between the fitter assembly

Fixture shall be E.T.L approved for use in outdoor wet 

locations. Ballast shall be high power factor multi-tap 

style (120/208/240/277V). Sockets shall be pulse rated 

porcelain. The electrical assembly shall be factory 

wired and installed in the fixture. Quick electrical 

disconnects shall be provided as standard 

OPTICAL SYSTEMS 

FGS 

The ContraCline® optical system is a multi-tiered 

reflector assembly composed of four reflective 

elements for Type 5 or six reflector elements for Type 

3. Peak candela shall be at 70° and sharp cutoff at 

80°. Lamp (by others) shall be in a vertical, base down 

burn position. 

Other optical systems available consist of an internal 

glass refractor optic, which features a GR3 for 

Type 3light distribution and GR5 for the Type 5 light 

distribution (up to 150PSMH and 150HPS), external 

refractor globes in non-yellowing acrylic, as well as a 

bare lamp optic. 

FGL 

Fixture shall be E.T.L approved for use in outdoor wet

FINISH 

Finish consists of a five stage pretreatment regimen 

with a polymer primer sealer, oven dry off, and top 

coated with a thermoset super TGIC polyester powder 

coat finish. The finish shall meet the AAMA 605.2 

performance specification which includes passing a 

3000 hour salt spray test for corrosion resistance. 

CERTIFICATION 

Listed with E.T.L for outdoor, wet location use, in all 

mounting orientations, conforms to UL1598 and Can 

Canadian CSA Std. C22.2 no.250 standard. IP66 

(FGS-SAL) 

WARRANTY 

Federal Globe LED, including housing, LEDs and 

electrical components, is warranted for five years. 

Non LED fixture is warranted for three years. Ballast 

components carry the ballast manufacturer’s limited 

warranty. Any unauthorized return, repair, replacement 

or modification of the Product(s) shall void this 

warranty. This warranty applies only to the use of the 

Product(s) as intended by AAL and does not cover 

any misapplication or misuse of said Product(s), or 

installation in hazardous or corrosive environments. 

AAL reserves the right to change product 

specifications without notice.

The Federal Globe is available in a variety

of the environment. The uneven pools of light 

common with other fixtures are eliminated. Objects 

in the environment are easier to identify because the 

perceived lighting level between the fixtures does not

The Federal Globe features the patented 

Moldcast® ContraCline optical system, which provides 

better night time visibility, low glare and uniform 

illumination. The ContraCline optics are a multi-tiered 

system composed of seven engineered reflective 

elements that surrounds the lamp. This unique design 

provides lamp obscuration, high peak candlepower 

and glare cutoff at normal viewing angles. In addition 

to the ContraCline optical system, the Federal Globe 

is also available with internal and external refractor 

optical systems, which features a choice of Type 3 or 

Type 5 distributions. 

High-performing Moldcast® ContraCline optical 

system lets you place light exactly where you need it.

system provides broad and efficient distribution 

of uniform illumination 

• Refractor optical systems are available in Type 

3 or Type 5 distribution patterns 

• For the small Federal Globe, the lamp wattages 

range from 50 to 175 watt standard metal halide 

and 50 to 150 watts for high pressure sodium. 

• For the large Federal Globe, the lamp wattages 

range from 100 to 400 watt metal halide and 70 

to 400 watt high pressure sodium. 

• Also available with an Induction Lamp System, 

which provides excellent color rendering, long 

life and instant on characteristics.
