GUIDE2010 EDUCATION 17 —JOHANNESBURG-LEWISTON AREA VANDERBILT AREA SCHOOL SCHOOLS— The Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools district covers 310 square miles, serving 798 students and employing approximately 107 people. • Millage levies: The local property tax levy is 6 mills on homestead property and 18 mills on nonhomestead property, plus debt reduction of 2.2 mills. • Voting precincts: Residents of Precinct No. 1 vote at Charlton Township Hall; residents of Precinct No. 2 vote at Albert Township Hall. • Budget: The district’s Foundation Grant established by state formula for 2010 is $7,788 per student. General fund operating revenues are estimated at $7,400,046 and expenses are anticipated to be $7,748,658.
