INDIANA/ARIZONA CONNECTIONS
• Colts Assistant Special Teams Coach Brant Boyer starred as an inside
linebacker at the University of Arizona, serving as a captain of the
“Desert Swarm” defense and leading the team in tackles during his senior
season.
• Colts Wide Receivers Coach Charlie Williams spent three seasons
(2004-06) coaching the wide receivers at the University of Arizona.
• Cardinals WR-Michael Floyd was a four-year starter at Notre Dame, starting
41-of-43 games for the Irish from 2008-2011 and establishing school
records with 271 receptions for 3,686 yards and 37 touchdowns.
• Cardinals Outside Linebackers Coach James Bettcher was born in
South Bend, Ind. and coached at Ball State in 2010.
FORMER COLTS/CARDINALS
• Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians served two stints as a member of
the Colts coaching staff, first as the quarterbacks coach from 1998-2000
and then as the offensive coordinator in 2012. In 2012, he served 12 games
as the interim head coach during Chuck Pagano’s absence while being
treated for leukemia. He led the Colts to a 9-3 record and helped Indianapolis
clinch a playoff berth during that time, earning Coach of the Year and
Assistant Coach of the Year honors by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro
Football Writers of America.
• Colts CB-Greg Toler was selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round
(131st overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He appeared in 38 games (15
starts) while recording 151 tackles, six interceptions and two touchdowns
for the Cardinals from 2009-2012.
• Colts Linebackers Coach Jeff FitzGerald was on the Cardinals coaching
staff from 2000-03.
• Cardinals Assistant Head Coach Tom Moore spent 13 seasons on the
Colts coaching staff, serving as the offensive coordinator from 1998-2009
before moving to a senior offensive assistant position in 2010.
• Cardinals Outside Linebackers Coach James Bettcher spent the
2012 season on the Indianapolis staff as the special assistant to Head
Coach Chuck Pagano.
• Cardinals Offensive Coordinator Harold Goodwin was the Colts offensive
line coach in 2012.
• Cardinals CB-Jerraud Powers was a third-round (92nd overall) selection
of the Colts in the 2009 NFL Draft. He started all 42 regular season
games he appeared in with Indianapolis from 2009-2012, tallying
220 tackles, six interceptions, 33 passes defensed, a forced fumble and
a fumble recovery.
• Cardinals T-Bradley Sowell played in 10 games for the Colts in 2012.
• Cardinals WR-Teddy Williams spent the 2012 season with the Colts,
appearing in seven games as a defensive back.
• Cardinals QB-Drew Stanton was with the Colts for the 2012 season.
FAMILY CONNECTION
• Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson’s younger brother, Dru, is the
Cardinals Director of College Scouting. Dru began his professional
scouting career alongside his brother, working as a volunteer scout for
the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005-06 as Ryan was the Eagles Director of
Player Personnel.

COLLEGE CONNECTIONS
• Colts DT-Josh Chapman played at Alabama with Cardinals FS-
Rashad Johnson and CB-Javier Arenas in 2008. Chapman and Arenas
spent the following season in 2009 playing for the Crimson Tide
with Colts RB-Trent Richardson. Cardinals Offensive Assistant Kevin
Garner was on the Alabama staff during that time.
• Colts Wide Receivers Coach Charlie Williams coached wide receivers
at Arizona from 2004-06 while Cardinals CB-Antoine Cason
played for the Wildcats.
• Colts Safeties Coach Roy Anderson was a student assistant on the
Florida State staff in 2003 during Cardinals DE-Darnell Dockett’s final
season in Tallahassee.
• Colts CB-Vontae Davis played two seasons (2006-07) at Illinois with
Cardinals RB-Rashard Mendenhall.
• Colts DT-Ricky Jean Francois and ILB-Kelvin Sheppard played the
2008 season at LSU with Cardinals CB-Patrick Peterson.
• Sheppard and Peterson teamed up with Cardinals FS-Tyrann Mathieu
and LB-Kevin Minter at LSU in 2010.
• Colts S-Sergio Brown played his final two seasons at Notre Dame
(2008-09) with Cardinals WR-Michael Floyd.
• Colts QB-Andrew Luck, WR-Griff Whalen, TE-Coby Fleener and S-
Delano Howell all played with Cardinals RB-Stepfan Taylor (2009-2011)
and TE-Jim Dray (2009) at Stanford. Colts Offensive Coordinator Pep
Hamilton was on that Stanford staff in 2010 and 2011.
• Colts DT-Montori Hughes played his freshman year at Tennessee in
2009 with Cardinals NT-Dan Williams.
• Colts DE-Cory Redding and Cardinals C-Lyle Sendlein were teammates
at Texas in 2002 while Cardinals Wide Receivers Coach Darryl
Drake was on the Longhorns staff.
• Colts DE-Fili Moala and Cardinals DE-Frostee Rucker played the
2005 season together at USC.
• Colts Quarterbacks Coach Clyde Christensen coached at Temple from
1983-85 with Cardinals Special Teams Coach Amos Jones and Defensive
Backs Coach Nick Rapone (1985) when Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians
was the head coach at Temple and Cardinals Defensive Coordinator
Todd Bowles was a defensive back for the Owls.
• Colts Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Roger Marandino was
a graduate assistant at Connecticut in 1995 when Rapone was on the
Huskies coaching staff.
• Colts K-Adam Vinatieri played his college ball at South Dakota State,
where he was a teammate of Cardinals Assistant Special Teams Coach
Steve Heiden in 1995.
NFL CONNECTIONS
• Colts DT-Aubrayo Franklin played in Baltimore with Cardinals P-Dave
Zastudil from 2003-05 and Colts Linebackers Coach Jeff FitzGerald
was on the Ravens staff for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
• Roberts played tight end for the Chiefs from 1989-1990 while Cardinals
Head Coach Bruce Arians was on the staff in Kansas City.
• Colts Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky and Assistant Offensive
Line Coach Hal Hunter coached the 2011 season together in San
Diego while Cason was a Charger.
• Colts RB-Trent Richardson played his rookie season in 2012 for the
Browns with Cardinals DE-Frostee Rucker.
• Colts DE-Cory Redding, T-Gosder Cherilus and Cardinals QB-Drew
Stanton were all teammates with the Lions in 2008.
• Colts CB-Josh Gordy and OLB-Erik Walden played the 2010 season
with Cardinals G-Daryn Colledge for the Packers.
• Colts C-Samson Satele played for Miami with Cardinals K-Jay Feely
in 2007.
• Satele (2007-08), Walden (2008-2010) and Colts CB-Vontae Davis
(2009-2011) all played for the Dolphins with Cardinals S-Yeremiah Bell
while Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles was on the staff
in Miami.
• Walden and Davis also played in Miami with Cardinals TE-Kory
Sperry (2009) and LB-Karlos Dansby (2010).
• Colts S-LaRon Landry played with Bell for the New York Jets in 2012
while Cardinals Assistant Head Coach Tom Moore was with the Jets.
• Moore was on the Vikings coaching staff when Manusky played linebacker
in Minnesota from 1991-93.
• Landry played for the Redskins with Cardinals G-Paul Fanaika in
2009 while Cardinals Running Backs Coach Stump Mitchell was
coaching in Washington.
• Colts QB-Matt Hasselbeck played in Seattle with Cardinals C/G-Mike
Gibson (2009-2010) and Fanaika (2010).
• Hasselbeck played for the Seahawks from 2001-07 while Mitchell
was on the staff in Seattle.
• Satele and Colts WR-Darrius Heyward-Bey played together in Oakland
with Cardinals QB-Carson Palmer (2011) and LB-Matt Shaughnessy
(2009-2011).
• Colts TE-Weslye Saunders played in Pittsburgh with Cardinals RB-

• McMahon was the special teams coach in Kansas City in 2012 while

Special Teams Coach Brant Boyer played for the Browns from
2001-03 while a number of Cardinals coaches served on the staff in
