Crozet Stimulating Growth for Chamber
by Kathy Johnson: special to CROSSROADS BUSINESS
Crozet doesn’t need a stimulus
package—in fact, many in the
Crozet area would be happy to
see a little less growth. The
2000 census reported 2,820
people, and 995 households
with an average household income $46,275.
Estimates for 2010 are 10,224 people, 3,822
households and an average household income
of $74,382.
A proposed industrial park in the Yancey Mills
area is meeting strong opposition, a new
proposal for a 70-unit housing project near
downtown has some residents upset and both
new and existing Charlottesville businesses are
opening or planning a move to the Shoppes of
Clover Lawn, Old Trail Village Center or
somewhere else in the Crozet downtown area.
Pre-construction, construction and construction management
services to private and public owners and developers of
commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.
Many of these new and growing businesses are
working with Linda Hershey, Chamber Vice
President of Membership. Hershey has been
busy welcoming several businesses to the
GARCC family, helping them with the
coordination of upcoming ribbon cuttings
and grand openings.
A number of new and returning members are
based in the Crozet area including Allergic to
Gravity, Allied Portable Toilets, Cavalier
Window Cleaning, Connections Chiropractic
Center, Crozet Arts & Crafts, Crozet Eye Care,
Face Value Studio & Salon, Miller School,
Murder is a Game, Old Trail Golf and Waddell
& Reed. These businesses vary including
recreation, medical, education, entertainment
and a variety of services. While some of these
businesses are long-time members of the
Chamber, many are new members seeking to
increase their exposure—something all
Chamber members have in common.
“...new and
returning
members are
based in the
Crozet area...”
Membership from Charlottesville-based
organizations also continues to grow as
businesses seek to expand and grow their bite
of the economic dollar. Albemarle Siding and
Windows is one of the newest Chamber
members, joining HR Diversified Solutions,
Little Caesars Pizza, Monticello Media (which
includes WCYK, WHTE, WWTJ, WCHV,
WZGN and WKAV), NWG Solutions, Roy
Wheeler, Realtor and The Hook.
Business networking members on both sides
of the mountain are turning to Hershey and
the Chamber to promote their businesses on
this side of the mountain. The continuing
boom in Crozet has many people looking to
explore an ever-wider spectrum of geographic
possibilities for business growth.
