The Nervous System<br />
Sistemul nervos<br />
An old woman, Madame Nica, owns a small house into the rural area and<br />
rents it from time to time to tourists. Her only pleasure is watching the<br />
evening news presented by a handsome young man (alias Mircea Radu).<br />
She has a crush on him and when she finds out that he might be having<br />
problems with his enemies, she takes an insane decision to go to Bucharest<br />
and try to protect her “little reindeer”. Once arrived in Bucharest she<br />
goes to stay at her daughter’s house. From there she tries to write him letters<br />
and fantasizes about meeting him face to face.<br />

Mr. Lăzărescu, a 63 year old lonely man feels sick and calls the ambulance.<br />
When it arrives, the nurse on the ambulance decides she should take him<br />
to the hospital, but once there, they decide to send him to another hospital<br />
and then yet another... As the night unfolds and they can’t find a hospital<br />

The Way I Spent the End of the World<br />
Cum mi-am petrecut sfârşitul lumii<br />
Bucharest 1989 – Last year of Ceausescu’s dictatorship. Eva, 17, lives with<br />
her parents and her 7 year-old brother Lalalilu. One day at school, Eva and<br />
her boyfriend Alex, accidentally break a bust of Ceausescu. They are forced<br />
to confess their crime before a disciplinary committee. Alex is protected by<br />
his father, a Party officer, but Eva is expelled from school and transferred to<br />
a reformatory establishment. There, she meets Andrei, a boy from a family<br />
of dissidents, and decides to escape Romania with him by crossing the<br />
Danube. Lalalilu is more and more convinced that Ceausescu is the main<br />
reason for Eva’s decision to leave. So, with his friends from school, he<br />
devises a plan to kill the dictator.<br />

It is the 22nd of December. 16 years have passed since the revolution and<br />
in a small town Christmas is about to come. Pişcoci, an old retired man is<br />
preparing for another Christmas alone. Mănescu, the history teacher tries<br />
to keep up with his debts. Jderescu, the owner of a local television post,<br />
seems to not be so interested in the upcoming holidays. For him, the time<br />
to face history has come. Along with Mănescu and Pişcoci, he is trying to<br />
ask a question which for 16 years doesn’t have an answer: “Was there or<br />

Three brothers recently moved to the City. The elder brother and the sister<br />
quickly find their place in the society but their younger brother seems to<br />
find it hard to integrate, therefore the other two decide to help. It’s just that<br />
Bizo falls in love with the Gypsy King’s daughter and decides to ask for her<br />
hand. The Father tries to trick him by putting him through three challenges,<br />
each one to demonstrate that he has all that it takes to be a proud gypsy:<br />
dexterity, guts and money.<br />

Ryna<br />
16 year old Ryna is the daughter of a poor <strong>Romanian</strong> who runs a gas station<br />
in a small community in the Danube Delta. Ryna has been brought up<br />
like a boy because her father had longed for a son. Ryna shows the awakening<br />
of a young girl’s soul and the pain that goes with it. Caught between<br />
traditional values and materialistic dreams, in the end Ryna pays a heavy<br />
price in order to preserve her identity.<br />
