most large hotels, car rental companies and stores<br />
in the main cities.<br />
Telecommunications<br />
Romanian telecommunications includes nationwide<br />
land-line and cellular phone coverage, internet<br />
modem access nation-wide, and high speed<br />
cable internet in Bucharest and most major cities.<br />
Domestic telephone service is good, with an automatic<br />
(direct dial) network in 90% of the country.<br />
International service is good, with one earth-tosatellite<br />
telecommunication system in operation.<br />
Mobile Communications<br />
In addition to the analog mobile phone network,<br />
four digital mobile phone networks (GSM) were<br />
licensed at the end of 1996 and are now in operation<br />
in Romania: Vodafone, Orange, Zapp and<br />
Cosmote. To place a call from a standard phone<br />
to a GSM network subscriber, you must dial:<br />
Vodafone: 072 + seven digit number<br />
Orange: 074 + seven digit number<br />
Zapp: 078 + seven digit number<br />
