Chief’s Report –
Chief provided report prior for Boards review. Training on District’s Social Media policy has
been given and invite Board members to attend training during one of the make-up sessions.
Commissioner Dorsett stated that Board should understand impact on Social media. Social
media training is available at FASD as well; however, Iona’s training is specific to District.
Cynthia to send training dates to Commission.
Supreme Court found in favor of Governor regarding 3%. Chair stated that Board put money
aside awaiting court’s decision and may wish to address funds at a later meeting. Attorney stated
that as it was Florida issue, Florida Supreme Court is highest court of decision on the matter. In
next 30 days or so, the opinion will be read and interpreted and there will be interaction to come
to conclusion of actual meaning and intent, per attorney.
County is considering suspending impact fees from all agencies that they are currently collecting
from. Vote, believe is February 12 th . Seem to think that due to protection language, county may
not be able to suspend. Update at FASD will be provided, per Chair.
Attorney Report –
Attorney stated that thoughts on Supreme Court have been given and available for any questions.
The dissenting opinion, not binding, consenting opinion is binding. Draft of ordinance regarding
impact fees was provided; this includes specific reference to fire and EMS impact fees and
suspension of collection of fees. Staff has prepared draft as if suspending collection of fee only
and leave the impact fee ordinance in place. Board of County Commissioners will probably
exclude fire and EMS from this ordinance, per Attorney Pringle. Chair asked Chief what we
collected last year in impact fees. Chief stated approximately $50,000; however best years was
over a million.

Motion (4750) to defer to DC Jorgensen made by Commissioner Sunday and seconded by
Commissioner Taylor… passed.
DC Jorgensen gave brief presentation of boat committee. Committee’s vision is for 30 year
vessel and Committee believes aluminum boat is way to go. Also, need three bids in order to
apply for WCIND grant. There will be another Boat Committee meeting on February 8 th , and
recommendation will be made at February 22 nd meeting.
Chief added MERT meaning Marine Emergent Response Team for benefit of Kinsey. DC
Jorgensen spoke upon our MERT affiliation.
Chair would like article in newspaper when decision for vessel is made. Chief stated that we
have $250,000 dedicated already in our replacement schedule.
