Chief’s Report –<br />
Chief provided report prior for Boards review. Training on District’s Social Media policy has<br />
been given <strong>and</strong> invite Board members <strong>to</strong> <strong>at</strong>tend training during one <strong>of</strong> the make-up sessions.<br />
Commissioner Dorsett st<strong>at</strong>ed th<strong>at</strong> Board should underst<strong>and</strong> impact on Social media. Social<br />
media training is available <strong>at</strong> FASD as well; however, Iona’s training is specific <strong>to</strong> District.<br />
Cynthia <strong>to</strong> send training d<strong>at</strong>es <strong>to</strong> Commission.<br />
Supreme Court found in favor <strong>of</strong> Governor regarding 3%. Chair st<strong>at</strong>ed th<strong>at</strong> Board put money<br />
aside awaiting court’s decision <strong>and</strong> may wish <strong>to</strong> address funds <strong>at</strong> a l<strong>at</strong>er meeting. At<strong>to</strong>rney st<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
th<strong>at</strong> as it was Florida issue, Florida Supreme Court is highest court <strong>of</strong> decision on the m<strong>at</strong>ter. In<br />
next 30 days or so, the opinion will be read <strong>and</strong> interpreted <strong>and</strong> there will be interaction <strong>to</strong> come<br />
<strong>to</strong> conclusion <strong>of</strong> actual meaning <strong>and</strong> intent, per <strong>at</strong><strong>to</strong>rney.<br />
County is considering suspending impact fees from all agencies th<strong>at</strong> they are currently collecting<br />
from. Vote, believe is February 12 th . Seem <strong>to</strong> think th<strong>at</strong> due <strong>to</strong> protection language, county may<br />
not be able <strong>to</strong> suspend. Upd<strong>at</strong>e <strong>at</strong> FASD will be provided, per Chair.<br />
At<strong>to</strong>rney Report –<br />
At<strong>to</strong>rney st<strong>at</strong>ed th<strong>at</strong> thoughts on Supreme Court have been given <strong>and</strong> available for any questions.<br />
The dissenting opinion, not binding, consenting opinion is binding. Draft <strong>of</strong> ordinance regarding<br />
impact fees was provided; this includes specific reference <strong>to</strong> fire <strong>and</strong> EMS impact fees <strong>and</strong><br />
suspension <strong>of</strong> collection <strong>of</strong> fees. Staff has prepared draft as if suspending collection <strong>of</strong> fee only<br />
<strong>and</strong> leave the impact fee ordinance in place. Board <strong>of</strong> County Commissioners will probably<br />
exclude fire <strong>and</strong> EMS from this ordinance, per At<strong>to</strong>rney Pringle. Chair asked Chief wh<strong>at</strong> we<br />
collected last year in impact fees. Chief st<strong>at</strong>ed approxim<strong>at</strong>ely $50,000; however best years was<br />
over a million.<br />

Motion (4750) <strong>to</strong> defer <strong>to</strong> DC Jorgensen made by Commissioner Sunday <strong>and</strong> seconded by<br />
Commissioner Taylor… passed.<br />
DC Jorgensen gave brief present<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> bo<strong>at</strong> committee. Committee’s vision is for 30 year<br />
vessel <strong>and</strong> Committee believes aluminum bo<strong>at</strong> is way <strong>to</strong> go. Also, need three bids in <strong>order</strong> <strong>to</strong><br />
apply for WCIND grant. There will be another Bo<strong>at</strong> Committee meeting on February 8 th , <strong>and</strong><br />
recommend<strong>at</strong>ion will be made <strong>at</strong> February 22 nd meeting.<br />
Chief added MERT meaning Marine Emergent Response Team for benefit <strong>of</strong> Kinsey. DC<br />
Jorgensen spoke upon our MERT affili<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
Chair would like article in newspaper when decision for vessel is made. Chief st<strong>at</strong>ed th<strong>at</strong> we<br />
have $250,000 dedic<strong>at</strong>ed already in our replacement schedule.<br />
