COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES
En inglés el comparativo de superioridad (“más + adjetivo + que”) se puede
realizar de dos formas dependiendo de las reglas, o bien se añade la
terminación –ER al adjetivo o se forma con MORE. Para completar la
comparación se usa THAN que equivale al “que” de la comparación en
castellano.
El grado superlativo (“el más + adjetivo”) siempre va con el artículo THE y
existen igualmente dos formas, o bien se le añade – EST a la terminación del
adjetivo o MOST.
Reglas para formar el comparativo y el superlativo:

exercise I have ever seen.
Existe a su vez un comparativo de inferioridad (“menos + adjetivo + que”)
que se hace con “LESS + adjetivo + than” o un superlativo de inferioridad (“el
menos + adjetivo + que”) que se realiza con “THE LEAST + adjetivo”. El
número de sílabas o las terminaciones del adjetivo no influyen.

E.g.: Where is the least expensive hotel?
El comparativo de igualdad (“tan + adjetivo + como”) se forma con “AS +
adjetivo + AS”.
E.g.: The Grand Hotel is as good as The Plaza
Otras construcciones de comparación:
• Comparativo + and + comparativo = “cada vez más + adjetivo”
E.g.: bigger and bigger = cada vez más grande
E.g.: younger and younger = cada vez más joven
E.g.: more and more interesting = cada vez más interesante
• The + comparativo, the + comparativo = cuanto más + adjetivo, más
adjetivo
E.g.: The more handsome, the sillier = cuanto más guapo, más tonto.
E.g.: The younger, the better = cuanto más joven, mejor.
E.g.: The more I study, the less I Know = cuanto más estudio, menos sé.
