Byfords is without doubt one of the town’s most beautiful buildings. Believed
to be Holt’s oldest house, this flint-fronted, Grade II-listed property has a
wealth of character, with all sorts of attractive nooks and crannies. Some of
its floors may be crooked and its doorways rather narrow, but together with
the brick and flint walls, beautiful pamment floors, and intertwining rooms,
these all add to the atmosphere.
Some rooms have feature fireplaces, others open on to an alfresco terrace,
while the light and airy conservatory is ideal in all weathers. And the good
news continues - upstairs you’ll find a range of beautiful guest rooms
boasting oak beams, flint walls, marble bathrooms and, of course, all the
latest mod cons.

THE CAFÉ... the place to meet
The café’s atmosphere is unique. Cappuccinos after the school run, filled croissants for breakfast,
tea and a big Byfords’ scone for elevenses, and ladies meeting for bowls of warm salad at lunchtime.
Business discussed over the popular Store boards and antipasti, sumptuous afternoon cream
teas, early evening family pizza and pasta, romantic candlelit dinners by the fire in the winter, or
refreshing alfresco dining on the pavement in the summer...
Our menu features local, seasonal ingredients,
with an international influence, and presented
in a quirky café style. A walk through the Store
gives you an idea of the chef’s larder as we
showcase much of the great produce displayed
in the Store counters. The evenings see the
introduction of blackboard specials and a
much slower pace to the bustling daytime.
Jazz evenings feature on the last Wednesday
of the month.
Byfords serves food all day every day from
8am to 9.30pm, with the attitude and approach
of the team reflecting the style of the food. It’s
relaxed, friendly, efficient but informal - this is
a place where well-earned relaxation time is
well spent!

BYFORDS STORE... an Aladdin’s cave
Much of the produce on sale at our store is made on the premises giving
its own unique personality. Famous home made cakes sit alongside perfect
pastries, an upbeat tossed salad bar, sits across from specialty bread,
scones, fresh croissants and daily sandwiches. Move through to the back of
the shop to the smell of our own bakery famous for its pizza’s to take away.
There is a loyal following for our selection of ready made meals, fine cheeses
from East Anglia, a medley of olives and anti pasti served by the pot and an
indulgent selection of local chocolates and liquorice. Ice cream is served to
passers buy from the window at the front of the store, how marvelous!
Package the store up for a picnic on the coast, a hamper for somebody special,
or a lovely lunch whilst enjoying Holt and all it has to offer.
BACK TO YOUR PLACE... bringing Byfords back to your home
If you fancy entertaining but don’t fancy being tied to the kitchen, then let
Byfords give you a helping hand. After numerous requests from customers
for outside catering, we’ve set up Back To Your Place, a bespoke service
to fulfil your every need. Ably run by Pat Abendroth, this wonderful service
embraces everything from canapés and hot and cold buffets to children’s
parties, hog roasts, picnics, barbecues and sit-down meals. From now on,
entertaining will be easy – whether you’re planning a birthday bash, a decadent
dinner party, a celebration lunch or a wonderful wedding breakfast.

POSH B&B... get away from it all... relax and sleep in style
The first and second floors of Byfords are converted
into Bed & Breakfast accommodation, offering
the informality of a B&B but with the quality of
an upmarket hotel – hence the label “Posh B&B”.
There are 16 beautiful bedrooms in total, including
a family room with a separate twin room for the
kids. The theme for the rooms is North Norfolk
and we have used local, natural materials where
possible – flint, exposed brickwork, oak floorboards,
slate, leather, silk and linen, as well as dramatic
photography of the beautiful landscape which
fills the walls.
Runner up in the Nations best B&B, we are graded
5 star and hold a gold award for excellence by
the British tourist board. All our bedrooms have a
wealth of character and consist of a luxury bed,
a separate comfortable seating area, a desk with
telephone and modem points, a Bang & Olufsen
TV, DVD and CD, plus en-suite facilities with dual
bathing baths, power showers and underfloor
heating.

other interests. Book three nights at Byfords, eat at STEAK on your first night, take the
short trip to The Pigs on the second, and stay put on the third and enjoy Byfords...
or enjoy the new spa rooms at The Pigs for a couple of nights, dine there the first night,
and then enjoy a luxury afternoon tea at The Assembly House, Norwich, on the second
day. Dinner, bed and breakfast tariff still applies, giving you £25 per person per day on
food at any location. Drinks and any extras will be charged to your room, at whichever

WINTER WARMER

Stay with us on a B&B or dinner, B&B basis for a

NEW YEARS EVE
Stay with us on a dinner, B&B basis for a minimum
of two nights. Stay 30th and 31st December or
31st December and 1st January. We only take
Dinner, Bed & Breakfast bookings so we have a
full house on the big night.
VALENTINES
Stay over on the night or the weekend either
side. Usual tariff and menu options apply.
OUR NORFOLK PASSPORT
They say you need a passport to get in and
out of Norfolk... well, we have created our very
own! This will be presented at the end of your
first stay with us and reward you with a gift for
each of the stays that follow. Applicable to all

COMING SOON...
ROOMS AT THE ASSEMBLY HOUSE
Work is due to start in the summer of 2013
to add 12 luxury bedrooms to The Assembly
House. This stunning Grade 1 listed building
is located in the very centre of Norwich and will
make a superb destination for a break in the
city. The house boasts an all day café, cake
shop and five function rooms making it an
excellent venue for weddings, conference and
events. The style of the rooms will be different
to anything else we have done.

Our two bedroom loft apartment is
available to rent on a self catering basis.
The apartment has masses of character and sleeps up to 5 people - the layout consists of a
double bedroom, single bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining area and lounge (with sofa bed).
Finished to the same standard as our Posh B&B, containing: Bang & Olufsen TV,DVD, CD and
radio, antique furniture, marble bathroom with radio & CD link, bath and shower. Plus luxury
Egyptian towels, Egyptian cotton sheets, down duvets and pillows plus quality cosmetics.
The kitchen is fully kitted out with a cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine, cutlery and
crockery etc.

at The Kings Head
We have 2 one bedroom self catering apartments at The Kings Head. Generous in size,
the rooms have been refurbished to a high standard, and feature, 6ft pocket sprung beds,
Egyptian cotton sheets, flat screen TVs, comfy seating, character furniture, roll-top baths,
drench showers, under-floor heating, luxury towels and quality cosmetics. The kitchen if fully
equipped with all the latest mod cons and has a separate dining area.
