The new executive, elected at our annual meeting and bound to bring
life to the entire band, comprises the following nobles:

Our Monday night practices have taken on a new life with the help of
three drummers from the Pipes & Drums. The
new beat is something to behold. Thank you,
nobles.
What we really need are new members. We
have people to train you on the fifes, the glockenspiels,
and the drums. Come out on Monday
nights and give it a try — you may just love it.

On February 4, 2013, Noble Butch
Shaen, an active and loyal member and a true
Mason and Shriner, was taken from us by the
Black Camel. Our condolences go out to his
family.
Players Needed
The Fife & Drum Band is looking for
nobles interested in playing or learning to
play a fife, drum, or glockenspiel. Marching
is minimal and we can teach you to
play any of these instruments. We are a
Khartum unit that has plenty of fun, while
remembering that our goal is to promote
the Shrine philanthropy and help physically
challenged children obtain a better
quality of life.

Fundraising

he Pop Can and License Plate
programs continue to move
Talong smoothly thanks to the
efforts of the chairmen, drivers, and
assistants.
Koin Boxes were placed in the Winnipeg
liquor stores for February. We
will also be placing them in all Winnipeg
Mac stores for April and May. We
give a big thank you to Noble Jack
McLaughlin of Pal Plastics for providing
us with the boxes and for being a great
supporter of the program.
We also give a big thank you to the
Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams
Foundation who have once again generously
supported us this year with
$4,000, which goes directly into our
Transportation Fund. They have continuously
supported us for twelve consecutive
years for a total of about
$25,000. These funds help to provide

travel, accommodations, and meals for
patients and one family member for
each visit to our Shriners Hospital for
Children for clinical or surgical treatments.
What can we say? They are sure
one classy corporate citizen.
