Chicago IL: An annual health fair was organized at Shree Jalaram Mandir located at located at 425, Illinois<br />
Blvd , Hoffman Estates , IL , on Sunday, April, 7, 2013. About 275 individuals availed the free services<br />
provided at this health fairs. The health fair was it is annual community service event open to any needy<br />
individual without consideration of race, religion, ethnicity or age People taking advantage were many devotees<br />
and all those needy without medical insurance, visitors and others in need of medical check-up.<br />

Chicago IL: An annual health fair was organized at Shree Jalaram Mandir located at located at 425, Illinois<br />
Blvd , Hoffman Estates , IL , on Sunday, April, 7, 2013. About 275 individuals availed the free services<br />
provided at this health fairs. The health fair was it is annual community service event open to any needy<br />
individual without consideration of race, religion, ethnicity or age People taking advantage were many devotees<br />
and all those needy without medical insurance, visitors and others in need of medical check-up.<br />
More than 100 enthusiastic health care volunteers of Jalaram Mandir participate in organizing this community<br />
service event. These volunteers are also accountable for such community beneficial programs in addition to the<br />
religious activities. The social and humanitarian activities include blood donation drive, bone marrow drive,<br />
yoga classes, classical dance classes, music and instrument classes, youth activities didactic classes etc. One of<br />
such large scale significant program organized by the temple volunteers is the annual health fair. This event<br />
marked the 4th year of the health fair.<br />
Long lines of participants arriving early in the morning to take advantage of the medical services. The main<br />
coordinator of this event was Mr. Bakulbhai Thakkar. This healthcare started at 8.00 AM and concluded at 1.00<br />
PM. The process started with registration of patients and filling out a health related questionnaire before they<br />
were directed to go for health screening.<br />
Volunteers managed the flow of patients from one station to another in a smooth fashion without much chaos or<br />
confusion. Patients received height, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, urine analysis, Complete blood count,<br />
comprehensive Chemistry and Lipid Profile, EKG and bone density testing. Next triage personnel directed these<br />
patients to the specialty consultants of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dentistry,<br />
Chiropractor, Physical Therapy and Optometry etc.<br />

Mr. Hasmukhbhai Thakkar, Chairman of Shree Jalaram Mandir was overjoyed to see such a large turnout.<br />
According to him, the primary goal was to provide comprehensive medical checkup and needed consultations<br />
with various specialists all under one roof.<br />
Attendees were all served with hot coffee, Masala Chai, and hot after the fasting blood work was completed. At<br />
the conclusion of the event, homemade delicious hot lunch was provided to all the hard working volunteers.<br />
Representative of <strong>Asian</strong> <strong>Media</strong> <strong>USA</strong> Team including Suresh Bodiwala and Dr. C. M. Modi MD had the<br />
privilege of covering the whole event. Credit goes to Bakulbhai Thakkar and his team members Jayantibhai<br />
Thakkar, Bhupendrabhai Thakkar, Rameshbhai Thakkar, Vipulbhai Thakkar, Rajubhai P. Thakkar,<br />
Rajendrabhai Thakkar, Dharmendrabhai Thakkar, Hasmukhbhai Thakkar, Jinaben Thakkar, Dr Ghanshyam<br />
Thakkar and Chirayu Parikh. for organizing such an excellent community service event. The whole team<br />
worked tirelessly throughout the fair without any complaint. Lastly they must be applauded for awarding<br />
individual certificates to all those who volunteered their services at this event..<br />
About Shree Jalaram Mandir<br />
Regular activities at the temple include Bhajans on every Thursday, first and third Sunday, Sundarkand path<br />
every Saturday, Abhishek on Mondays and on Ekadashi, group Satyanarayan Katha, Jalaram Jayanti, lectures of<br />
saints from India and celebrations of all religious events like Ram Navami, Janmashtami, Navratri, Holi, Diwali<br />
and others. Ekadashi. On the humanitarian side the temple arranges annual health camp, provides free flu shots,<br />
arranges blood donation. Soon, there are plans to provide monthly medical clinic Seva, which will include<br />
doctor’s consultation, laboratory tests and providing free prescription medicines on an ongoing basis.<br />
Educationally, the activities include yoga classes, music teaching, Gujarati classes and religious classes. For<br />
