ssp yakushimanum, Exbury form<br />
Probably the best <strong>of</strong> Hachmann's hybrids. The<br />
wavy-edged midseason flowers are a shiny light<br />
red at the edges, creamy pink in the center.<br />
Dense, compact habit. AGM winner. Briggs<br />
Nursery's 2002 Plant <strong>of</strong> the Year.<br />
Abundant, s<strong>of</strong>t true yellow flowers adorn a<br />
compact plant with excellent foliage. The<br />
midseason blooms have wavy edges and are<br />
sometimes double. Foliage is rounded and dark<br />
green with a bit <strong>of</strong> brownish-orange indumentum<br />
on the underside. Low, mounded habit.<br />

Almost twice the width as its height. Frilly deep<br />
dark purple blooms with spotted red throats are<br />
held in trusses <strong>of</strong> 12-14. Mid to late season.<br />

Large, but delicate pink flowers appear in tall<br />
conical trusses atop this exceptional hybrid. The<br />
compact plant is covered with glossy, deep green<br />
foliage and the underside <strong>of</strong> each leaf is covered<br />
with a teddy-bear-brown indumentum.<br />

An old ironclad hardiness performs reliably in<br />
blazing sun and high humidity. The rose-pink<br />

summer before turning purple-red, orange and<br />
yellow in fall. Mildew resistant.<br />
