FACULTY LECTURE: University Internationalization: Study Abroad and Beyond Carlos A. Vega, Professor of Spanish Jennifer Thomas-Starck, Director, Office of International Study An overview of trends and issues in current world-wide university internationalization. Other than promoting more collaborative research and teaching, initiatives reflect economic, political and demographic factors. The growth of world ranking systems, the growing importance of “internationalization” as a business, and difficulties involved in negotiating different national educational systems will be addressed. After this general view, Jennifer Thomas-Starck, Director of the Office of International Study, will review Wellesley study-abroad trends and issues. Pendleton East 239 WELLESLEY ALUMNAE OF AFRICAN DESCENT (WAAD) WAAD (pronounced “wade”) is one of the first affinity groups to organize under the umbrella of the Alumnae Association. The group’s purpose is to strengthen the connections of alumnae of African descent with each other and the College. WAAD welcomes alumnae, family, and friends to their open house with Tracey Cameron, Ph.D., Assistant Dean, Director of Harambee House, and Advisor to Students of African Descent.
