Track Cycling
On a velodrome, most timing occurs automatically
by means of taped track contacts, which
give the start and/or finish signal(s) to the cycling
timer box next to the PC.
A total of 4 of these track contacts are installed
if you want to time all 9 possible races;
200m sprint, 500m time trial, 1000m time trial,
individual pursuit, team pursuit, etc…
Push-buttons are also included for the timing
of the team pursuit, where the third member
of each team is timed each lap manually.
The software on the PC, running under Windows
98, 2000 or XP, contains a race selection
window and one separate window for each of
the possible race types. The optional scoreboard(s)
near the track and in the stadium for timing, lap counter, difference time etc. are live updated.
What velodrome applications are concerned, the standard TimeTronics 4-digit scoreboards are equipped
with a red and green light, to indicate the leader of the pursuit races.
All timing data are continuously logged on hard disk of the PC, but also available for serial or data file export
to external computer(s) for further race management, TV graphics display or press information. For
some races, like the 'elimination' race, the MacFinish photo-finish system is also required and used each
lap to identify the last bicycle that crossed the finish line.
