winners of a National Security Personnel Award.
Chris Fielding
Chris, of Securitas Security Services UK Ltd, has been working
on a contract at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for over four
years. He has been awarded a National Security Personnel
Award for showing vigilance, professionalism and initiative
to save a man from trying to take his own life. Chris had to
step in on three separate occasions, despite the man brandishing
items he might use to harm the security officers. His
actions enabled the man to get the help he needed. Chris
has also been praised for his friendly, helpful attitude and
for showing compassion towards patients of the hospital.
He is a credit to the Hospital Security Team, Securitas and
the security industry as a whole.
Best Newcomer
Clarence Hyman
Clarence, a Security Officer working for Corps Security,
has been praised for his high standards and his natural
willingness to go above and beyond his duties. Despite
being relatively new to the industry, he has demonstrated
customer service to the highest level and has even provided
voluntary mentoring for new recruits. He has
displayed a true passion for his colleagues, clients and the
security industry and takes great pride in his role. Clarence
has a can-do attitude, is always prepared to go the extra
mile and his welcoming persona is an asset to Corps and,
in turn, the client’s organisation.
Paul Wilson
Securitas Security Services UK Ltd’s Paul, a member of
the Emergency Medical Team working at BAE Systems
Submarine Solutions, identified a serious medical condition
with a patient during a routine medical check that potentially
saved the patient’s life. The patient was rushed to
hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Had it not
been for Paul’s observations, the patient could have suffered
a major stroke. Paul is a credit to Securitas and is
very well respected by his peers. He has shown that when
placed under pressure, he can make decisions above and
beyond those expected and with true leadership qualities.
His outstanding performance on that day, and indeed, all
year round deserves to be recognised with a National
Security Personnel Award.
Robert Love
Robert, of Sight and Sound Security Solutions Ltd, is a
Security Officer who is quickly rising through the ranks.
Securing two promotions within just two years’ experience
in the industry, Robert is now working as an Operations
Supervisor – responsible for the staffing and operations of
over 150 officers. His dedication to his role, absolute determination
to succeed and ability to adapt to each situation
has ensured that he is a valued member of the company.
From the onset, Robert has been commended for his great
leadership qualities and ability to motivate and influence
people around him.
Best use of Technology
Marcin Bereza
Marcin, an Intelligence Analyst working for VSG, has been
awarded a National Security Personnel Award for the best
use of technology, for single-handedly designing and implementing
an electronic Security Operations Dashboard. The
software, which enables managers to plan a much more
effective security operation, took considerable time and
effort to complete. It has been estimated that if a product
which achieved similar results had been purchased, it would
have cost in excess of £50,000. Marcin was the sole driver
for this concept; he knew the difficulties he would come up
against and the fact that he would have to fit this in around
his normal work streams without any additional resources.
This platform showed great innovation and drive to achieve
an end result that would benefit the contract and the client.

Centrale Shopping Centre Team
VSG’s Centrale Shopping Centre Team consists of thirty-three
dedicated security officers who are committed to
providing a service which is second-to-none to the Centrale
Shopping Centre in Croydon. They continually improve
their skills by taking part in comprehensive training and
twenty of the thirty-three officers are first aid and defibrillator
trained. They relentlessly seek to add value to the
contract by going above and beyond what is expected of
them. The team consistently look to identify new areas of
improvement and strive to achieve optimal customer service
excellence. They have a fantastic work ethic and carry
out their duties meticulously and diligently.
ITV Security Team
Wilson James Ltd’s ITV team have been presented with
an award for going the extra mile. The team of twenty-three
security professionals have fully embraced the
culture and values of ITV and become an integrated part
of their operations. They often go the extra mile to cover
additional duties such as manning the main switchboard
during holiday periods, which shows their commitment to
adding value to the contract. The team are always ready
and able to rise to the challenges that arise, both planned
and unforeseen, with great positivity. They always keep
customer care as their core focus and have been commended
by ITV for their can-do attitude.
Security Personnel Awards 2016
The BSIA’s Annual Security Personnel Awards are now
open to employees of the Association’s Security Guarding,
CVIT, Police and Public Services, Leisure Industry, Specialist
Services and Crowd Management sections.
The awards are presented both regionally and
nationally and seek to showcase the achievements of small
and medium-sized businesses as well as the larger players
in the sector. Many SMEs have gained added exposure for
their businesses through their award successes.
Winners and their employers receive positive publicity
in local and regional media, as well as comprehensive coverage
in the security trade press. National award winners
will also gain the added exposure of receiving their awards
at the BSIA’s flagship event, the Annual Luncheon.
