FAIRBROTHER TO RACE PALL-EX SCIROCCO IN VW CUP eBay Motors launch 2013 car The eBay Motors team today launched its brand new NGTC BMW 125i which will contest the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2013. The car, which was seen unliveried at a recent test at Brands Hatch, was unveiled in front of media and invited guests at eBay’s headquarters in Richmond, London. Colin Turkington, the new driver for the eBay Motors Team returns to the track eager to reclaim his title after a three-year break from the BTCC. Joined by Collard and Foster, the trio launch a three-man attack on the championship driving for eBay Motors behind the wheel of West Surrey Racing (WSR) designed and built cars. SRO confirms solid interest in 2013 British F3 series The SRO Motorsport Group has announced today at a special launch event at its London headquarters that it has received unanimous and positive feedback from teams based in the UK and abroad in respect of the revised format for the 2013 Cooper Tires British F3 International Series. The 12-race calendar will see teams racing at three current Formula 1 circuits (Silverstone, Spa- Francorchamps and Nürburgring, all with live television coverage, as well as a fourth event at the famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. For 2013, Fairbrother has swapped his Golf GTI for a Scirocco to be prepared by Tony Gilham’s Team HARD, and has landed backing from Pall-Ex, the awardwinning palletised freight network founded by TV entrepreneur Hilary Devey. Fairbrother made his car-racing debut in 2012 in the VW Cup after several years competing on two wheels and then moving into race team management, and hopes his new car, team and sponsor will help him in his quest for top-10 finishes. “I like to think that I am better prepared for the start of this season,” said 47- year-old Fairbrother. “My target last year was to get into the top 10, and I achieved that towards the end of the season. Now I want to be a top-10 finisher on a regular basis and, if possible, break into the top five.” Halifax-based David has bought the Scirocco and believes that Team HARD will help him deliver the results he wants: “Tony’s team prepares a good car and he has a strong line-up of young and experienced drivers, from whom I can learn.” Thrilled that his Scirocco will be branded in the new Pall-Ex livery, David said: “I have been part of Hilary’s network ever since she started Pall-Ex, and I am delighted that her company is now joining forces with me in the world of motorsport.” Added a spokesman for Pall-Ex: “Our business is all about collaboration and driving innovation, and the plan is, with David’s help, to raise awareness of our activities through motorsport. It is shaping up to be an exciting season.” Additional backing for Fairbrother’s campaign comes from Doodson Broking Group, ADD Express LTD, north-west MAN truck dealership Steadplan and Fuchs Silkolene. The opening rounds of the 2013 APR Volkswagen Racing Cup take place on Easter Monday, 1 April, at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
