Format volumes for z/OS LAN-free operations<br />
For LAN-free operations, Tivoli Storage Manager previously required an<br />
operation such as MOVE DATA or LAN-based backup to write data to the<br />
tape so that it could be used from open systems. You can continue to use<br />
this method. However, with this release, you can configure Tivoli Storage<br />
Manager server to quickly and easily format LAN-free-capable volumes<br />
dynamically when they are requested by the storage agent.<br />
