An extremely tough molded polymer.<br />

A heavily radiused, replaceable steel extension<br />
that is thread attached to the end tube of ASP<br />
<strong>Baton</strong>s.<br />
5.66 Universal Cue<br />
Directions that will be perceived by all students in<br />
the same manner. In a gym, left and right will<br />
change depending on which way the student is<br />
facing. Up and down, however, are universal.<br />
Instructors should use universal cues.<br />
5.67 Wavemaster<br />
A replaceable patterned grip which provides a<br />
secure hold and increased control.<br />
5.68 Weapon Disarming v Weapon Defense<br />
A tactical decision to disarm a subject who has a<br />
weapon as contrasted with a defensive posture<br />
taken as the subject attacks the officer.<br />
5.69 Weapon Side<br />
The dominant side of the officer’s body. The side<br />
where the firearm is most often worn. The ASP<br />
<strong>Baton</strong> is commonly worn on the Weapon Side.<br />
5.70 Weapon Strike<br />
A strike with the ASP <strong>Baton</strong> from the dominant<br />
side of the officer’s body.<br />
5.71 Zinc Dichromate<br />
A gold finishing process which protects metal<br />
surfaces from rust and provides an ideal<br />
undercoat for painting operations.<br />
NOTE<br />
Gross Motor Skills offer important advantages to<br />
police officers. They require less instruction time,<br />
reduce refresher time and have a high level of<br />
retention. Gross Motor Skills are also more likely to<br />
be performed during times of high stress and are<br />
more forgiving.
