The Bridges Run
The Run (outreach visit) is
at the heart of our mission.
The Run is an opportunity for
a group of trained volunteers,
along with a Bridges employee
or board member, to go directly
to the streets and shelters
to meet with homeless men,
women and children. On a
typical Bridges Run, our truck
is loaded with fresh, ready-toeat
meals in a bag, sustainable
lunches (with long-shelf life
provisions), and hot soup, as
well as other items of necessity
for those living on the street
or in dire need.
New Run to Penn Station
in NYC
This year, to address the growing number of homeless living
in Penn Station in New York City, we initiated a new Run on
Wednesday evenings to the street adjacent to Penn Station.
Core Volunteers
Twenty Core Volunteers participate in the New York and
Newark Runs at least once a month to greet people and
engage in meaningful conversation. Because they participate
often, Core Volunteers develop and maintain friendships with
homeless people they meet on the Runs.
13,000 Sustainable
Lunches Delivered
These shelf stable meals were given out as second meals
without risk of spoilage.
Soup’s On
2,800 gallons of soup, hot chocolate and lemonade were
served. Fourteen dedicated soup makers prepare soup, hot
chocolate and lemonade for each Run on a rotating basis.
Extra vegetables are added to our soup to make it healthier
and heartier.
New Truck
Through the generosity of the Ludwick Family Foundation,
Bridges was able to purchase a new yellow truck. The truck
has been painted “Bridges yellow” and the logo applied.

New Video
A new Bridges video was filmed to incorporate our street
outreach on the Bridges Run and our work at Project
Connect linking clients to services, jobs and housing. Many
thanks to Christopher Harrison of Northern Lights Post, for
donating his time to film and edit the video. It is available on
our website under the “About Us” tab and on YouTube.
