THAI MASSAGE
“Thai massage" or "Thai yoga massage" is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian
Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. It was founded by an Indian Ayurvedic doctor
named Jivaka Kumar Bhacca, who is still revered in Thailand as the "father of medicine". He has
been noted in ancient documents for his extraordinary medical skills, his knowledge of herbal
medicine, and for having treated important people of his day, including the Buddha himself.
TECHNIQUE
Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing
during a treatment and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. There is constant body
contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is
compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The receiver will be positioned in a variety of yogalike
positions during the course of the massage and the massage also combines deep static and
rhythmic pressures. These may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking knuckles, walking on
the recipient's back, and moving the recipient's body into many different positions. There is a
standard procedure and rhythm to the massage, which the giver will adjust to fit the receiver.
BENEFITS
Thais believe that good health and freedom from pain result from the unhindered flow of vital
energies through the body's tissues by means of 'channels' called 'Sen' and that most musculoskeletal
pain and lack of mobility of the joints is the result of muscles shortening under the
influence of repetitive strain. . Regular Thai massage stretches the muscles back to their normal
resting length and before long, tension disappears and joint mobility is restored.
SWEDISH RELAXATION MASSAGE
Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to
energy work that is more common in Asian-style massage. As the best-known type of bodywork
performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the
entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the
direction of blood returning to the heart.
TECHNIQUE
Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you
relax. The massage therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure with less
emphasis on working out „knots‟. The therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the
muscle to release. You might even fall asleep! It's a good choice for someone who is getting a
massage for the first time, or someone who just wants to bring their stress level down. During a
Swedish massage you are generally nude underneath a towel or sheet. The therapist uncovers
only the part of the body he/she is working on, a technique called draping..
BENEFITS
There are substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage. Gentle massage stimulates sensory
nerve endings in the skin, which transmit messages through the nervous system and cause
the brain to release endorphins that create a sense of well being. Massage further aids relaxation
by stimulating the body's parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the "rest and digest
system." Blood pressure decreases, heart rate slows, digestive activity and blood circulation
increases and the body's lymphatic system is stimulated.
AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy has been around in some form for thousands of years, but it was only in the 11th
century that steam distillation first made it possible to properly remove the essential oils from
plant materials. Since then, cultures around the world have utilized aromatherapy for a wide
range of functions. Aromatherapy massage uses essential oils derived from plants to affect your
mood and alleviate pain.
TECHNIQUE
In aromatherapy massage, essential oils, which are volatile, highly concentrated plant extracts
derived from leaves, bark, roots, seeds, resins and flowers, are mixed with a carrier oil like sweet
almond, apricot kernel, or grape seed oil. The massage therapist may use up to five oils in a
mixture, and chooses the oils based on what you need. A relaxing aromatherapy massage, for
instance, might have lavender or bergamot, while a massage for sore muscles might include
peppermint and eucalyptus.
BENEFITS
4 | P a g e

5 | P a g e
Some of the health benefits of aromatherapy include its ability to reduce anxiety, ease depression,
boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, eliminate headaches, boost cognitive
performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion, and
increase circulation.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal
performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage
emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons, tone, symmetry,
balance and posture. But you don't have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. Sports
massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion
TECHNIQUE
Sports massage is a type of Swedish massage that stimulates circulation of blood and lymph
fluids. Some sports massage movements use Trigger point therapy to break down adhesions
(knots in the muscles) and increase range of motion. The massage can include stroking through
muscle groups or picking out specific muscles, creating movement within them in different
directions or at varying depths and strengths, stretching them in any number of ways with client
participation and working in specific areas to break down tensions.
BENEFITS
Sports massage should play an important part in the life of any sportsman or woman whether
they are injured or not. Massage has a number of benefits, both physical, physiological and
psychological. It can help maintain the body in generally better condition, prevent injuries and
loss of mobility, cure and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue, boost performance and
extend the overall life of your sporting career.
This rigorous massage will be followed by a 30 minute Swedish relaxation
massage where the massage therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter
pressure with less emphasis on working out „knots”.
The lighter pressure gives way to the deeper pressure and slower movement of a
30 minute Deep Tissue Massage that is concentrated on areas of tension and pain
BODY WRAPS & SCRUBS
Body wraps are all natural, often containing a mixture of herbs and minerals designed to beautify
the skin. Essential oils and sea salts may be used in spa body wrap treatments, seeking to help
tone and soften the skin, and help rid you of those unwanted inches. Algae, along with seaweed
and a host of other primary ingredients such as mud, clay, and paraffin, a waxy substance, stand
proudly as major ingredients in body wrapping solutions. If you have claustrophobia, this may
not be the right treatment for you as you might be left alone during the treatment.
Body Scrubs use a blend of oils with fine and coarse grains, and are followed with the application
of emollient lotions to further soften skin. During the initial process, a client's skin is drybrushed
to incite exfoliation (removal of dead layers of skin) and control cellulite. Once dull
dead top layers of skin are removed, smoother and healthier skin is revealed. Proper brushing
involves gentle massaging motions.
BENEFITS
7 | P a g e

8 | P a g e
Body wraps use detoxifying organic materials to draw toxins from the body and soften skin.
Body wraps are designed to improve the texture and appearance of the skin by helping to rid the
body of excess fluids and toxins. Benefits of body wraps may include detoxification, boosting of
the lymphatic system and metabolism, body contouring, temporary inch-loss, skin tightening,
and skin softening.
After a scrub, skin will feel soft and fine lines will lessen after just one treatment. Since the skin is
our largest organ, detoxification can have a profound effect on health and well being.
LOMILOMI MASSAGE
The early Polynesian settlers to Hawaii brought their own form of massage which evolved over
hundreds of ears to become something uniquely Hawaiian. The word „Lomilomi’ is used today
to describe a "massage therapist" or "Hawaiian massage." In the Hawaiian language, the word used
traditionally, called lomi, means "to knead, rub or soothe; to work in and out, as the paws of a
contented cat." ]
TECHNIQUE
In general, Lomilomi practitioners use the palms, forearms, fingers, knuckles, elbows, knees,
feet and even sticks and stones, with or without lubrication. It is a spiritual technique based on the
Hawaiian philosophy of “huna” that relates to philosophy, knowledge, anatomy and practices such as
massage and energy flow. The strokes can be long, smooth and relaxing, or quick and invigorating.
The key is that the masseuse and the client are working in tandem. The goal of the massage is to
find harmony with every aspect of life and therefore, therapists may ask clients to pray, meditate,
change their diets, and engage in other self-help activities usually believed to lie outside the scope
of massage in an effort to truly help the clients obtain optimal health.
BENEFITS
8 | P a g e

9 | P a g e
There are many different "schools" of lomilomi with different approaches and techniques but
their goal is the same, namely to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit by removing energy blockages
and opening energy pathways within the body. The free-flowing strokes that typify lomi lomi
have many of the same benefits of traditional Swedish massage, such as improved circulation and
immune response, increased range of motion and flexibility, improved posture, faster healing,
slower heart rate and lower blood pressure].
Recommended Duration : 90 Minutes minimum
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
HOT HERBAL COMPRESSION MASSAGE
Performed for hundreds of years, Herbal massages are known to provide deep relaxation while
relieving stress and fatigue and improving health.
TECHNIQUE
The therapy relies on the use of hot compresses or “poultices” filled with a selection of herbs
and spices. The compresses are generally wet and then steamed and applied gently to specific
points of the body, releasing their healing benefits into the pores of the skin. They can be used
along with the hands to focus the massage on knots. Although quite gentle, the therapy can
9 | P a g e

10 | P a g e
include some Thai yoga postures. By manipulating the limbs, the therapist aims at improving the
flexibility and ultimately, the relaxation of the body. Since compresses are steamed and applied
directly on the skin, do not hesitate to ask the therapist to adapt the heat and /or the pressure
level if you find them too hot.
BENEFITS
Hot compresses promote relaxation and sooth aching muscle and stiff joints. Since the motions
are very gentle, it can be more appropriate for parts of the body that are too tender or sore for
hand massage. It is a great alternative to accupressure, since it stimulates the same points of the
body, leaving you intensively relaxed and energized. Herbal Massage is known for its healing
properties: it improves blood circulation and stimulates the internal organs. While the heat dilates
blood vessels, it increases the blood and oxygen circulation in the body and improves the
efficiency of the different organs. Herbs used in the compress will also have different and
specific benefits: ginger is used to treat digestive disorders and allergies, lemongrass and kaffir
lime boost the immune system, jasmine has antispasmodic and anti-depressive effects, turmeric
is an anti-bacterial that will heal skin infection or lesion...
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
HOT STONE MASSAGE
A hot stone massage, a variation on classic massage therapy, is a massage that uses smooth, flat,
and heated stones placed at key points on the body. The hot stones are usually made of basalt, a
type of rock that is rich in iron, so they retain heat. River rocks are normally used because they
are smooth - they are smoothed over time by the river current. The stones are immersed in water
and heated in an electric heater until they are within a certain temperature, usually around 52-54
degrees Celsius or 122-127 degrees Farenheit.
TECHNIQUE
Once the stones have heated sufficiently, some are placed onto specific points on the body (such
as the back, hands, etc.) and others are held by the massage therapist and used to work the
muscles. The massage therapist always holds the stones first before touching them to your body,
which ensures that the temperature will not be too hot. Everyone, however, has their own
comfort range. Be sure to speak up if the stones are too hot for you. The massage therapist
often begins by applying oil to the body, which allows the hot stones to glide smoothly along the
muscles. You are lying face down, and the massage therapist often then uses the hot stones to
massage the back. After the hot stones have relaxed the muscles, the massage therapist may put
down the stones and use his or her hands to directly massage the skin. The heat of the stones
warm and relax the muscles, which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure, if desired.
Certain styles of stone massage also incorporate chilled stones into the routine. These stones are
usually marble and are placed into a bowl of iced water before use.
10 | P a g e

11 | P a g e
BENEFITS
Hot stone massages have beneficial effects on various health conditions such as back pain, poor
circulation, Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, insomnia, depression and stress. The warmth of the hot
stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system. Some massage therapists place
stones on points that are thought to be energy centres of the body to rebalance the body and
mind. Hot stone massage is suited for people who tend to feel chilly or who have cold feet, or
for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage, while cool marble stones are
used during a treatment if there is inflammation.
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
SHIATSU MASSAGE
Shiatsu develop4ed in ancient China around 530 BC and later extended to Japan, Korea and S.E.
Asia. By the 20 th century it became popular in the U.S, Europe and Australia to treat muscular
tensions. Its name comes from the Japanese words “shi” or ginger and “atsu” or pressure. Also
known as acupressure, Shiatsu is a point-pressure massage designed to help regulate the flow of
energy within the body. Its produce a deep relaxation, increases energy levels and brings balance
to the body.
TECHNIQUE
During a shiatsu massage, thumb, fingers, palms or feet apply pressure to specific points on the
body‟s energy pathways, known as meridiens. Other techniques such as rocking, stretches,
vibration and joint rotations are used as well. Loose clothing is worn and it is usually performed
on a mat on the floor.. Shiatsu treatment is holistic, addressing the whole body rather than
focusing on the one area where symptoms are most obvious. This type of massage begins with
gentle stretching and manipulation of the skin to allow the stimulation of energy and relax the
muscles. Depending on the need of the person receiving the massage, it can be very gentle and
calming or used with high pressure, but should never hurt or feel painful.
11 | P a g e

12 | P a g e
BENEFITS
Shiatsu massages help stimulate circulation in the capillaries of the skin's soft tissues, cellular
nutrition throughout the body and the secretion of the sebaceous glands, keeping skin moist and
smooth. Shiatsu also helps limber muscles, reduce muscular pain and can help alleviate the
symptoms caused by arthritis. By relaxing the body and increasing blood flow and circulation
Shiatsu also aids the circulatory and digestive system, allowing food to digest and waste products
to be more easily eliminated.
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
BALINESE MASSAGE
Balinese massage developed in the Indonesian province of Bali, with influence from the
traditional medicine systems of India, China, and Southeast Asia. In particular, it is often linked
to Ayurveda, an Indian holistic medical system which emphasizes bringing the body into balance.
It is a full body, deep tissue, holistic treatment that induces calmness and boosts circulation.
TECHNIQUES
12 | P a g e

13 | P a g e
Balinese is a form of deep massage and is designed to work almost every muscle in the body.
The masseuse will use a variety techniques, including acupressure movements, such as press
point and palm pressure, and standard massage techniques like sliding, long exploration, short
exploration, kneading, skin rolling and flicking, firm and gentle stroking, percussion, and
application of essential oils. [1] The practitioner may also apply stone massage. This massage is not
a delicate one, and can typically be felt deep in the muscles, yet its techniques also focus on
relaxation. The aroma of scented oils is soothing and makes the massage strokes fluid.
BENEFITS
The combination of manual therapy and aromatherapy is intended to relax the mind, loosen the
muscles and stimulate the lymphatic system and the flow of blood and oxygen. The boost to the
circulatory system helps reduce stress and the aromatic oils boost one‟s mood. The techniques
work to ease damaged tissue, relieve strained muscles and ease joint pain and is therefore also
useful for sports injuries.
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of
muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted
areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
TECHNIQUES
Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapies, but the movement is slower and
the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sublayer
of muscles and connective tissues. Massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands,
elbows, and forearms during the deep tissue massage. You may be asked to breathe deeply as the
massage therapist works on certain tense areas Deep tissue massage physically breaks down
adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement by using massage oil and direct deep
pressure. At certain points during the massage, most people find there is usually some
discomfort and pain but tell your masseuse if the pain is outside your comfort range. There is

14 | P a g e
usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or
so.
BENEFITS
Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, limited
mobility, injury, postural problems, muscle tension, sciatica and osteoarthritis. It has proved
more effective in relief and rehabilitation than physical therapy, exercise and medication and an
improved range of motion is noticed immediately after a deep tissue massage.
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
A trigger point is a spot that "triggers" a painful response. But it is more than a tender nodule. It
affects not only the muscle where the trigger point is located, but also causes "referred pain" in
tissues supplied by nerves. Trigger points are located in a taut band of muscles fibres. The
therapist will locate and deactivate them using finger pressure. One technique is to pick up the
muscle fibres in a pincer grip.
14 | P a g e

15 | P a g e
TECHNIQUE
Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through
cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the
recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and
intensity of the discomfort. Since it the condition developed over time, it will likely take more
than one massage to alleviate it and it might be uncomfortable.
BENEFITS
The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles
thus alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after just one treatment.
Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain
and stress from chronic injuries.
Recommended Duration : 90 MINUTES
Cost : (90 MINUTES) Rs 3000 ( 120 MINUTES) Rs 3600
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is an alternative medicine, involving the application of pressure to the feet and
hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is
based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the
feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. Modern

16 | P a g e
reflexologists use techniques developed in the 1930‟s and 1940;s by Eunice Ingham, a
physiotherapist who mapped the body into “reflexes” on the feet and whose foot maps and
reflexology charts are used till today.
TECHNIQUES
Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet,
hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different
body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and
person's general health. A reflexologist may perform a general, integrated session, or may focus
on specific problem areas on the feet, hands or ears. For example, if time is limited and the
person really needs to relax, the reflexologist may choose just to work on the ears. Whatever the
approach, the reflexologist attempts to release congestion or stress in the nervous system and
balance the body's energy. client will stay fully clothed for a reflexology session except for
removing footwear,
BENEFITS
Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, millions of people around
the world use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like anxiety,
asthma, cancer, cardiovascular tissues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis.
Recommended Duration : 60 MINUTES
Cost : (30 MINUTES) Rs 600 ( 45 MINUTES) Rs 900 (60 MINUTES) Rs 1200
PRE NATAL MASSSAGE
17 | P a g e

18 | P a g e
Massage therapy during pregnancy is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness
as it relieves many discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg
cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces
stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous
tension -- which aids in better sleep -- and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by
hormonal changes.
TECHNIQUE
Our therapists take extra care to ensure our pregnancy massage clients are comfortable. Sideline
positioning with supportive, soft cushions is used to alleviate the extra strain on the lower back
and pelvic areas when pressure is applied. Extra strain in these areas can cause unnecessary back
or abdominal pain, so naturally we want to avoid any potential discomfort. Through the second
trimester, you may prefer to lie on your back with a small, cushioned wedge placed under one
hip to provide a slight elevation. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy, your therapist
may utilize such massage techniques as reflexology, Swedish massage or certain techniques that
address your specific requests and needs.
BENEFITS
• Headaches can be relieved by massage focusing on the head, neck and shoulders.
