Pests of vegetables reported during the year were:

were of'ten severely attacked by garden mi l lepedes,
outbreaks of which are attributed to the constant humidity of
the soil caused by uninterrupted irrigation and also to the
practice of leaving heaps of rotting vegetable matter beside
the beds. G:-y1./us assim.ilis F., in gardens and Citrus nurseries
was controlled by soil fumigation with calcium cyanide.
Damage t.o seedlings and young plants by the cutworms,
Prodenin ornithogolli Gn., Lycophotia infecta Ochs., and Kylomyges
sun in Go. was reduced by the use of poison baits and
