Recycle YOUR INCOME BUY LOCAL! In a community that values the principles of sustainability, there may be no greater act of such than local purchases of goods and services. We recycle our cans, bottles, paper, why not recycle and control our incomes? Recirculated income or the process in which dollars are exchanged within one’s local economy before leaving through the purchase of an import adds significant value to our community. Known as the local multiplier effect, it is a valuable hidden feature to our local economy. For every $1.00 spent at a locally-owned business 68 cents stays in the local economy….3 times more than chain stores and 100 times more than spending outside your community. Those dollars work for our community over and over…..each dollar spent locally returns up to $5! Buying locally supports jobs and wages, preserves local charm and character, increases product diversity, creates a competitive marketplace, supports public services, reduces public costs, enhances quality of life and promotes environmental sustainability. You can give a gift that rewards everyone. We can recycle our incomes over and over to help build a more vibrant community and economy.
