Since the amendment in the Indian<br />
Medicine Central Council (IMCC) Act,<br />
1970 in the year 2003, prior<br />
p e r m i s s i o n o f t h e C e n t r a l<br />

Government is necessary for<br />
establishing new colleges, increase<br />
in admission capacity in any course<br />
of study or training and starting a<br />
higher or new course of study in<br />
existing courses in Ayurveda, Siddha<br />
and Unani (ASU) colleges under the<br />
provisions of Section 13A of the Act<br />
and also for continuation of<br />
permission to the existing ASU<br />
colleges under the provisions of<br />
Section 13C of the Act. To implement<br />
the provisions under Section 13A of<br />
the amended IMCC Act, the Central<br />
Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)<br />
h a d n o t i f i e d re g u l a t i o n s o n<br />
1 5 . 0 3 . 2 0 0 4 e n t i t l e d “ T h e<br />
Establishment of New Medical<br />
College, Opening of New or Higher<br />
Course of Study or Training and<br />
Increase of Admission Capacity by a<br />
Medical College Regulations, 2003”,<br />
which were further amended on<br />
28.03.<strong>2014</strong>. With an objective of<br />
maintaining a uniform standard of<br />
education in all colleges as per the<br />
provisions of section 13C of the<br />
amended IMCC Act, the CCIM had<br />
n o t i f i e d o n 0 6 . 1 0 . 2 0 0 6 t h e<br />
regulations entitled “The Indian<br />
M e d i c i n e C e n t r a l C o u n c i l<br />
(Permission to Existing Medical<br />
Colleges) Regulations, 2006”.<br />
During the academic session <strong>2014</strong>-<br />
<strong>15</strong>, permissions have been granted<br />
as per the provisions of section 13A<br />
of the Indian Medicine Central<br />
Council (IMCC) Act, 1970-<br />
i. to establish nineteen new<br />
Ayurveda colleges with total<br />
1240 seats in UG (BAMS) course<br />
24
