So we’ve conjured up an energy-packed 12-hour
outing around the resorts, testing out just six.

Speedy sailing
BOATS have great appeal to all ages and
Laguna Phuket is a perfect place to learn
the basics of sailing a Hobie Cat in the
relatively calm waters of the lagoon. Even
with just a wisp of a breeze, it’s possible
to come to understand what boating
is all about and to learn to duck as the
boom swings across. The Allamanda may
be back from the seafront but the resort
has its own charming lagoon-side beach
where Lesson One can begin under the
guidance of Marine Centre staff. Before
long, it’s possible to steer in the right di-
rection and even, with an eye on the wind
and the sails, to relax and enjoy the quiet
of a still morning and the beauty that sur-
rounds you. Once you’re confident of set-
ting a course safely, there’s a larger boat
available to try your skills on the Anda-
man Sea. (And your sailing doesn’t neces-
sarily have to start at 6am. Sailors like to
sleep in, too.)
